Where can I use these coupons?
These coupons are valid on online or phone orders (unless otherwise stated above). For online orders, coupons can be applied HERE (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/cart/cart_coupon.asp). For phone orders, you have to quote the coupon code when placing your order. These coupons are not valid in store, however, some stores have been known to accept them. So it is highly YMMV. You can find the full Staples Coupon Redemption Instructions HERE (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Static/static_pages.asp?pagename=cprdeem).

Can coupons be stacked?
Yes, coupons (whether 5-digit or 16-digit) can be stacked as long as you meet the minimum purchase requirements. A maximum of two different 5-digit coupons and/or an unlimited number of 16-digit coupons (given the first 5 digits of the 16-digit code is different) can be applied per online purchase. As well, when ordering by phone, there appears to be no maximum to the number of 5-digit coupons and/or 16-digit coupons that can be applied per purchase, but it is highly dependent on the CSR you get.

Can you give me an example of how stacking works?
If I wanted to make a $250 purchase and there are three available coupons: $10 off $100, $20 off $150, and $30 off $200. Then I can apply the $10 off $100 coupon and the $20 off $150 coupon ($100+$150=$250 purchase requirement), but I wouldn't be able to apply the $20 off $150 coupon and the $30 off $200 coupon because the minimum purchase requirements wouldn't be met ($150+$200=$350 purchase requirement).

What's the difference between 5-digit and 16-digit coupons?
5-digit coupons are generic coupons that can be used once per account. On the other hand, 16-digit coupons are unique codes attached to either your newsletter subscribed e-mail or Dividends account number that can be used only once.

How are 16-digit coupons attached to a newsletter subscribed e-mail or Dividends account number?
The first five digits is the coupon code. The following ten digits is your Dividends account number or a unique string of numbers that identifies the e-mail you used to subscribe to the Staples newsletter. The last digit is a filler to make 16 digits.

How do I get these coupons from Staples?
If you sign up for their newsletter or become a Dividends member, then you will receive periodic coupons from Staples via e-mail and/or mail. However, do note that some members have reported that even though they've signed up, they still do not receive any coupons from Staples. You can sign up for Staples' newsletter HERE (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Static/static_pages.asp?pagename=email) or become a Dividends member HERE (https://www.staplesdividends.ca/SODC/UserManagement/Enrollment/StaplesDividendsEnrollment.aspx). Once you start receiving coupons, don't forget to share them with people in this thread.

That only means you tried to apply >2 generic 5 digit coupons. You are only allowed to apply a maximum of 2 generic 5 digit coupons online. If you want to apply more, you'll have to phone into Staples CS.

order sth <$50. the summary at checkout will say you got charged $15, but your email confirmation should say you have free s/h.

You become Dividends Gold by spending >$1000 in one calendar year. Five digit coupon codes are valid once on each Staples account while sixteen digit coupon codes are valid once only.

when you're doing a pricematch with staples, do the match the price and then apply the coupons, or do they apply the coupons and then match the price?

would they determine whether they will price match based on the after-coupon price of the item?

For online, Max 2 coupons;
Foe order by phone, you can use max. 2 $20 off $200 since your total is $450 or 3 $20 off $150 for the same amount.

I will try anyways, and the worst case scenario is that I'll buy it from this Staples and return it/re-buy it from the other. I used the $20 off $55 coupon this morning for the Logitech Speaker X-540

I called to try to have my order changed to evening delivery (supposedly they try delivering between 9-5 for two days and then cancel your order if no one is home).

They told me it was too late as my order was out to the delivery company

They also told me that my coupon is invalid. It was supposedly for a Flight Simulator??? It looks like it went through.
He told me if I want evening delivery that he woudl have to cancel the exisiting order and put through a new one but would not be able to use the coupon.

too many lurkers that prbly just snag the codes w/o posting they used it.

that's why it's always good for RFDers to ask that "ppl interested PM me and i'll PM you the code"...

AFAIK, stooples instore/online SKUs are the same and would refer to the same product if they have identical SKUs

if products have diff. colours, it's likely that they'll have a slightly diff. model # and hence there should be another SKU for them.

You won't be able to stack on another coupon for a $230 purchase. I guess I'll clarify on how coupons are applied. They first look at your total purchase amount (let's call it Z) before any discounts and taxes. This is what determines how many coupons you can use. You can apply X off Y coupons up to the point in which the sum of Y is equal to Z. Y has to always be less than or equal to Z. When purchasing online, there is a maximum usage of 2 16 digit coupons and 2 5 digit coupons.

Example: I have a $20 OFF $55 (5 digit), a $30 OFF $150 coupon (5 digit), and two $20 OFF $200 (16 digit)...
a) Total Purchase (Z) = $75 --> Possible Combinations:
1 x $20 OFF $55 (Y=$55 < Z=$75)
b) Total Purchase (Z) = $150 --> Possible Combinations:
1 x $30 OFF $150 (Y=$150 = Z=$150) OR
1 x $20 OFF $55 (Y=$55 < Z=$150)

You should call staples asap because they have no authourity to charge you the amount other the invoiced amount, if they don't refund you call your CC company asap and dispute the charges. Retail companies can't charge you more than the invoiced amount without your authourity so if Staples can't supply your approval of the $22.80 to your CC company, they will charge them back for you.

I said it was from a website that lists applicable coupons from various retailers.

The Staples person said "Was it RedFlagDeals?"

I said I could not recall.

She said you can't rely on these websites for getting valid coupons.

I wish I had more tiem to raise a stink about this, but I don't. I wil let the credit card peopel handle it.

Smart thing to do...last time I had a dispute was buying from ebay, the guy from New York never sent me the stuff, I waited a month and both ebay and paypal won't help me since the amount was only US$20, I called PC Mastercard and they sent me a form, after filling it and returned it by mail, my money was back in my account within a week. Anyway I was surprise that Staples will do a thing like that, it breaches their merchant agreement between Visa/Mastercard and whatever CC companies, they simply can't charge people money without approval, it stated cleary in the agreement.

I hope you can post here how you exactly approach your CC company so other will know what to do in case Staples are going to charge us as they do to you. I noticed they charged me the amount on 7/Feb but nothing show up after that yet (the $20) so I'll be monitoring my account to see what'll happen next.

Even though she called and the staples rep allowed her to use 3/4 different coupons. The would not reverse the charge.

For example, if I wanted to use a coupon twice how would I go about doing that?

Serialized coupons are one time use only. Other coupons are tracked via telephone number, customer number, account number, and depending on the situation, sometimes credit card numbers.

I don't want to sound like an ***** , but if you come across a large coupon, or great deal (that you think is a mistake) hold off on posting it on RedFlags. It helps out large corporations to find and correct these mistakes a lot quicker when it flags in our system.

Such as the $100 coupon, a lot more of people's orders would have been fulfilled, had it not been for the greedy people that tried to place orders with a negative balance. Orders like that flag the systems, and then the order has to be looked over manually to find an error. When we find the error (in this case, the system flagged the order because it was a negative balance) a representative goes through the order to see what the problem was. The rep finds that the person placed an order using a $100 coupon for a $89 Ipod etc. and thus sees that the coupon isn't working properly. When that happens, everyone is notified and the system is quickly repaired to not allow the coupon, unless the exact requirements are made.

I know that RFD is sort of a "family" or "community" and thus sharing all these great deals is a given... but sometimes a person has to look out for themselves (if they want the coupon/deal to work) and keep the deal hush hush, because it takes just one person to wreck it for everyone. Even posting that people should be careful is going to cause problems, because you'll then get people that will try to stack too many coupons (flagging the system), ordering obscene quantities of something (flagging the system), ordering with coupon, then calling to price match (flagging the system)... and so on.

Toronto online local flyers have the coupon, I printed and used in southern ontario no problem just make sure you do a print screen on the page with your mouse hovering over the coupon part. A lil mouse over popup shows the description and coupon code for the csr to use.

I just printed off the 10 for 40, but the fine print was not legible. I then hand wrote the coupon code beside it and walked into staples. I handed the printout to the cashier and gave her the coupon code. She didn't even blink... typed in the coupon code and voila... $10 off.

Wow! I guess you missed a decent with the S3IS. I just bought it last weekend from Staples using the two $20 off $150 and then PM'ing it against FS since they had it for $399.99 till April 4th. I just checked FS and it's $429.99 right now. I got the S3IS for $360 before taxes which was a pretty good deal for me.

Btw if you get another $20 off 200 or $30 off 200 you'll still need $500 before taxes to use all 3 coupons because the two generic ones available right now is for $20 off 150.

Yes - you cannot use more than two 5 digit coupon codes on any one order online (if you want to use more than two you have to phone it in - though your YMMV as to them accepting coupon codes over the phone).

You can use at least two 16 digit coupon codes + two 5 digit coupon codes on a single order though.

Those coupons are linked to your dividends number 54194XXXXXXXXXXY (where the X's is your dividends number). You shouldn't be giving that out cause those coupons automatically deduct the discount from your dividends monthly total when someone uses it. Well it's not much in this case cause it's only $5, but still...

you can, they allow more than 2 coupons via phone, but it was funny i called in and the CSR was VERY NICE...then when i mentioend i had coupons, she started to waver...1...2....3 coupons, then POW "You may be receiving a call asking you to fax in your coupons...", just remain calm and say sure! haha never got a call, and coups were accepted

it's not that they don't "allow it" but rather that if you use it, usually they'll ask for a physical copy of it.

they're less reluctant to use it if they "know" in advance that it's an online-only coupon.

it's not "BS" as FS/BB no longer have free s/h for online orders...

stooples is just charging the NDD charge that BB would charge if they were to ship it to you the next day.... (IIRC, they respond w/ "in order to make a fair comparison against our NDD"...)

Hrm... you're right. I tried it before updating the first post and it worked. Normally, if a coupon is expired it says the coupon is invalid/expired and cannot be used. This means that it's a one time use five digit coupon which is really odd. The other one seems to still work. I'll update the first post.

i totally agree..i was just wondering if they (generally) would pay attention to that. I know at sportscheck, they divide the coupon up equally, so 2 items with $20 off coupon would be like $10 off each item so if you return 1 item, you end up only saving $10 from the coupon

Just to add to the staples rant... Remember to provide a delivery address where someone will actually be present. Staples REQUIRES a signature to deliver and they only try twice. Also they will not let you pick it up. If it isn't delivered on the 2nd attempt it's automatically sent back and the order cancelled. If the sale is over, or the coupon is now expired, or if it was a one time use only coupon, you have NO WAY of re-ordering at that good price. I can even see them denying a pricematch when you try to reorder because the sale ended yesterday and therefore the pricematch does not apply today or just saying the pricematch was already used. They do not have a way to override their system or re-activate a coupon or such.

Anyway i'm happy with the Canon A570 i got. Originally ordered it with a 10 off 100 and 20 off 150 coupons. Missed delivery twice because they did not leave notice on the door even though they say there should have been. Was forced to reorder with a 20 off 200 since both the original coupons had expired and there were no other ones around.

You're 100% out of luck. i've had this trouble a couple of times. They only try delivering twice and then send it back and cancel your order. This happened to me too. I used two coupons then I had to cancel the order (beacuse I had changed my mind on the purchase). When I tried ordering again with the same coupons, they gave me the same message. This is becuase the ordering system only allows each user to use each coupon once.

Appearently my PM has been read for over a day and the coupon code is no longer valid as per staples.ca ; the only thing I can guess is that the person I PMed the code to has used it. However I heard nothing from him / her!

What kind of person does that! I don't know you at all and I wish have picked a nicer RFDer to PM! I usually update the threads only when there's new coupons to add. Since there's an expiry date listed for each coupon, there shouldn't be any trouble in figuring out that a coupon has expired (even if it's in the Active Section). :lol:

You have to buy something at least $250 ($150+$100) to use those two coupons. The purchase has to total at least the value of the coupons you're using.

Can coupons be stacked?
Yes, coupons can be stacked as long as you meet the minimum purchase requirements. A maximum of two 5-digit coupons can be applied online per purchase. There appears to be no maximum to the number of 5-digit coupons you can apply when ordering by phone, but it is highly dependent on the CSR you get. In additon to the 5-digit coupons, 16-digit coupons can also be applied on top of 5-digit coupons.

Can you give me an example of how stacking works?
If I wanted to make a $250 purchase and there are three available coupons: $10 off $100, $20 off $150, and $30 off $200. Then I can apply the $10 off $100 coupon and the $20 off $150 coupon ($100+$150=$250 purchase requirement), but I wouldn't be able to apply the $20 off $150 coupon and the $30 off $200 coupon because the minimum purchase requirements wouldn't be met ($150+$200=$350 purchase requirement).

They can only be stacked if the total price of the item being purchased allows it. For example:

not too much info there tho,... i believe on stooples.ca it used to have a bit more info regarding the dividends program (before the dividends website launched), but i can't seem to find it anymore.

just join (it's free), and they'll send you a pamphlet w/ much more details.

up to 2.5% rewards for reg. members (max $15/qtr), or when you get upgraded to gold by spending $1k+ in a yr, the bonus is bumped up to 5% (max $30/qtr)

i heard if you're a teacher, you get as much as 7.5% ... but i'm not too sure about this

maybe some RFD member teachers can verify that :)
