I'm looking for an online distributor or store to buy a DSC brand (dsc.com) home security alarm system in Canada of course (DSC is a canadian compagny)

so far I've found little store and ebay but I want to evaluate other store

anyone can help ?

I am also in the market for a (DIY) home security system, the markup and installation fee's are not for me!

I am not too picky on brand, so if you could share any of your findings that would be swell.

I have only found American distributors thus far and would prefer to buy in Canada.

So my question for you, did you find any distributors in Canada whom will send to the general public?

It's possible to buy DSC parts from smaller alarm installers in GTA for DIY. I did this many years ago. You pretty much have to know what parts you need though.

Are there any site that will explain the OPTIMUM PLACE where to place door, window, and especially motion sensors?

This will be the deciding factor for me for DIY.

Good read, still reading through, but I have not found the specific information on exactly where to do the installs on the sensors yet;

1) on where the window sensor should go on the casement window,
......top/bottom/sides..more to the corner/middle/???inches from top/bottom/sides??.......

2) on where the door sensors should go on the door
.............top/bottom/sides..more to the corner/middle/???inches from top/bottom/sides??.......

3) Motion sensor, where to install, in which corner of rooms/hallway/basements - how high off floor........

4) Where to install the keypad/siren....

Etc......

No pets, going wireless DIY...only if I can get more details on the exact and best locations for all sensor installs. Even different rooms with/without windows/doors may locate the motion sensor differently/the same/, or which corner do we install motion sensors... as to be invisible through the windows /in plain sight...and how high off the floor for optimum motion sensor? ...........
