So i had a pair of these in the BST and for no one wanted it i guess so couldnt stare at the BNIB packaging anymore and i started using them. so here is a small review for anyone who cares.

first of all the following are the headphones i have used through out my life and thats how i am gonna review these.
Headphones: JVC gummy ($15), ipod (free), Sony ex-51 ($50), sony ex-81 ($80), etymotic er-61 ($130), shure e3c ($280), senn Hd 417 ($70), Bose triport ($190) and now bose IE (129), and some others i cant remember.

first of all lets talk about comfortability, the bose IE`s beat all the ones listed above by a fair bit, the only one that comes close is Er-61 from etymotic. but i must say that eventhough bose claimes them to be in ear they are really regular headpones that doesnt actually sit in your canal, this is the reason why the bose are the most comfortable.

in sound quality the best one has to be the shure E3c , with its well balanced sound, but since i listen to hip-hop i like more bass. now the Er-6i`s were the best ones in terms of balanced sound with a little bit emphasis on bass. now the bose IE`s take it to a next level and they are even more biased towards the bass which i like but it does sacrifice the quality of the mids and highs a little bit. one thing to note is that you should have all eq`s off because when bass was up it sounded like crap because the bass wass muddy and the mids and highs were not music anymore . also they do a decent job of isolating outside sound but if you want earphones that are made to isolate outside sound then try the etymotics.

In the end if i have to pick a winner it would be the Triport IE for there amazing comfort level, thier very handy and nicely designed carry case, thier warranty and customer service ( i have dealt with bose before) and finally for being biased more towards bass :cheesygri

if you dont like bass that much than i really recommend checking out the etymotic er-6i and with it order 2 flange tip. it will be a well worth spending, they are noise isolating, you can keep the volume low and enjoy a well balanced sound and they are very stylish i think.

there you go, let me know what you guys think and please no comments on why rap is bad music or not music at all etc....

thanks,

why the bose hate exactly?

Usually due to high price/performance ratio, too much emphasis on marketing ,and somewhat inaccurate "u-shaped" sound. I think often Bose gets flaked too much by the snobby hi-fi people who love to generalize Bose customers as clueless buyers brainwashed by the force marketing, but it is true the Bose products are inferior sound-wise to many other less-well known, cheaper competitors. As for triports, to me their sound is just too warm/bass-heavy for my taste and really I'd expect a little more accuracy from a pair of headphones at that price level. I'd pick a pair of Sony V6's (not V600s) over the Bose anyday, but I'm a Etymotic ER4S user so I guess I like a flatter (or even bright?) sound. But whatever, the triports are for sure comfortable and if they sound good to your ears, then they are good.
