I was looking at the 3220 today at the bay and also checked by costco for the 37" viewsonic...

I really noticed alot more ghosting with the acer.... however the Viewsonic was running component and the acer was using the standard Red White Yellow (forgot what its called)

Anyone else compared the 2 ???

I'd rather save some loot of course and go with the acer.

Reading some posts I see Acer has no audio output does that mean with an HDMI input from your digital terminal or dvd player, your forced to use the speakers in the TV instead of a surround system?

Anyone know if the viewsonic suffers from this audio out problem?

Sorry been researching LCD's for a while now and running out of patience.. hope its not a repost :D

I bought the 3220, been using it for 12 days or so now, i like it. DVD's look great on it with my Oppo, but i have yet to put an HD feed into it so i can't comment on that.

As for ghosting, it seems like you described the inputs into the tv being the worst possible kind, so you can't really judge based on that. Maybe go into th e store and demand that they show you some content on the tv with it hooked up to dvd via HDMI or at least component.

If for instance you wanted to hook up your dvd player to the tv via HDMI you'd do that, but also feed the optical or coax audio from the dvd player to the receiver. I don't have a receiver yet, but when i get one, this is exactly how i'll be setting it up, so no you don't have to use the crappy tv speakers nor do you need an audio out from the TV to achieve the desired result.
