Hey, I just wanted some advice from rfd member's to see what i can do to improve my situation. A guy took $800 from me, and said that what I will get will come in about a week or so. So as stupid enough I was, I went along with it, and waited about 1 month. Every week I would get a new lie, and I'm just worried..what should I do? Please post your advice!

Is that nokia N95, phone even out yet? Thought it wasn't going to be released til Q2 2007?...Sorry to hear that you got scammed... You might have to contact local authorities. How did you pay? Cahs, chq, money order, credit card, Paypal, EMT?

Sorry to hear that you've been scammed. Since you did not mention any ids, I am assuming that it's external.
This is one reason that one should never part with one's cash without having the goods. Even when you have the goods, you might still get scammed with a fake phone or a dysfunctional phone.
Frankly, I am not sure how much the police can do. It is a case of your words against his words. You probably need to find out more about recorded conversations being used as evidence in a criminal act.
$800 is a lot of money. I hope you get this sorted out soon. Please do update us.

Dude, you are way too vague. Post more details. What exactly happened? Who was the user? RFD member? Link to ad? Where did you meet? Was it shipped? Did he have any refs, and did you check them? Etc..
You can't just post "I've been scammed $800, help me" and expect people to give you any advise.
With all these scams going on, it still boggles me why people trust and give money to total strangers. There really is a sucker born every minute.

I see, 24 other people also have been the victim of this scammer?..so lets do the math here 24 X $800 = $19,200 / 2 = $9600. There' ssomething missing here, you chill with this guy a lot, and you heard that 24 other people were scammed? Perhaps you don't know this guy as well as you thought you did.
What do you hope to accomplish by showing up his place with a few other guys? He's got $9600, that can but a a lot of gun, knives, explosives, security, etc..Just be careful.
Also if you brother got this phone why not get it from where he got his from? or Did you bro also get phones off this guy?

Acutally $800 for the N95 is not a bad deal..the N93 is almost $800 alone. Unfortunately you got scammed by a so called "friend"...a person that you chilled with every weekend??...dude, what a friendship. Did you ask him for your money back?? How about if you have a conversation with him regarding your advance payment towards the phone and not receiving it and then secretly record it. If he doesn't follow through with the phone then you take this recording to the authorities. It's obvious that he doesn't value your friendship so you do not need to feel sorry for him.

great shirzad, so did you get scammed before or after you were trying to sell the N95s that your uncle is selling in saudi arabia for 1800$.
or let me rephrase that, you got scammed $800 from your friend who told you he was getting a lot of 24 phones from nigeria. you gave him 800$ now the money is gone by the hands of western union. while all this happened, you made a thread trying to sell N95s for $900. you figured, when these get here, im gonna make a 100$ profit on each phone.
but the phones never came in did they... mr. oscar meyer weiner president of nigeria has your money now. good. WHAT DID I TELL YOU about playing with people's money? I guess you just dont learn huh.

Shirzad, weren't you selling N95's too back then? Well, if I recall correctly from a while ago.
Anyway.. it's best if you do some homework before buying phones from people... especially phones that aren't out yet. If it's a prototype, or whatever, ensure that you meet up in person and don't accept EMT.

im not sure if you can do anything because you paid cash, if there was some sort of trail, like credit card or something, then maybe. but if you try to get him to say that you paid him 800 cash on of those recorded phone conversations, then you got a shot with the cops. then again, you could always buy an aluminum bat and beat the living crap out of him.

hahaa.. u're funny.
you're right, theres nothing he can do anyway. i mean.. scammers obviously ditch, especially when its cash. the only instance i heard of with credit card scams that never got the money back was scammers buying phones with other people's account, and the original account owner claims for a chargeback or something, and the buyer looses out on the phone.
