Can somebody from U of T tell me if they can buy student version of Windows Vista Ultimate or Business? If so, please let me know how much. I remember I bought student WinXP from UT 3 years ago and it was around $120CDN.
Let me know, thanks!

I can come by the bookstore tomorrow. I live within their St. George campus limits, so I can check.
I wonder if the alumni qualify to buy it at a discount. If so, my sister will be sent out.

I contacted them before. And apparently you'd have to talk to Lloyd Smith to get some sort of permission form and bring it to the library to borrow the CDs. about the licensing, i don't have much idea.

you contacted who? UofT? Microsoft? who is Lloyd Smith? what borrowing CD's are you talkin about? I though MSNDAA was to allow students at universities get microsoft products at a discount.

I contacted the U of T guys who are in charge of the MSDNAA software stuff. If you go to UT's website and google for MSDNAA, you could probably find the website and their names.
Yes indeed MSDNAA allows you to get Microsoft products at a discount but Com. Sci students and Engineering are able to get certain software for free. Engineering students should be able to login online at MS's website but Com Sci peeps need to get a form from Lloyd Smith who handles Com Sci affairs (Com sci wireless network and etc) and then borrow the CDs from the Information Commons at Robarts Library.

I was there last week looking for Office 2007. They have boxed Vista Home Premium, academically priced, around ~$110, along with a bunch of academically priced boxed Office 2007s.
The volume licenced MS Select stuff, which for Office is much cheaper, wasn't available when I went there...

You should definitely check your msdnaa first, I'm in business and we get the business edition of vista for free but anyone with a university login can actually get it so it's not really restricted even though the link itself is specific to faculties.

The licenses that they provide you isn't volume licensing though right? You will still need to activate it individually?
Someone that I know told me his MSDNAA cd-key for Vista Business was only temporary and not a permanent one. Is this true or you guys get to keep the key forever?
I wonder which university is offering Office 2007 through MSDNAA?

i can confirm that UT engineers get access to vista business on MSDNAA. ive got the 5 cd images sitting on my hdd. i think its only the 32bit version though. im wondering if it qualifies for ms' 'upgrade anytime' option so i can get it up to ultimate on the cheap.
i also have no idea why engineers and cs students get it but not others. maybe admin thinks theyre more technically oriented? or maybe they just hate artscis. at any rate, see if you can talk to your engineer friends who dont need their key for vista. then they can download the images, burn em, and let you use their key.

you can actually download ultimate version of vista DVD(32bit/64bit) and use the cd Key provided by MSDNAA. Windows vista installation will know that you have an Business Cd-Key and only let you install Business version.
As of the CD key, yes, everyone get different keys
so my question will be, if I have 2 computers, can I just install using the same key and call MS? or I really need to follow what the website said and talk to someone in Ut to get another key?

The software provided for engineers and com sci are meant for testing and development purposes. I guess MS hopes to have us students develop stuff for Windows in a way to maintain their solid state in the market.
