I've got a friend in France, she just graduated from a 4 year business school, and is having a tough time getting a job in France (just like every young person over there). I suggested she try canada, since there are many places looking for people with business background who speak both french and english.

What I'm trying to find out is what the process is to get approved to work in Canada. I know it would be tough to do interviews, but I'm sure she could get something over the phone. After that what would happen? Also, if she did get approved to work in canada, how long until you can apply for citizenship?

Thanks for any info you can provide, I'm sure there are some RFD'ers who have gone through this process or have family/friends who have been in the process.

Everything you need to know about working in Canada. Basically unless she is coming to Canada to become a permanent resident as a skilled worker, she will need to get a job already set for her before being allowed to work in Canada with a work permit.

Thanks for the info, according to my calculations she would have 65 points, and would be just below the 67 required. I guess that means she would need to get a job offer before arriving in Canada, then she could easily pass the 67 mark.

Would it be easier to get a temporary permit and then apply for permanent, or just get the 67+ points and get in as a skilled worker?
