If I recall correctly quite a few RFDers were very happy with this LCD. The 32" is $50 off too, so $750.

I have the 27" and am quite happy with it, only downside to this t.v. is that I have to press power twice to turn it on. also, there's a slight hiss in the sound only noticeable when I have the volume down really low.
Overall, for the price you pay, the picture quality is great, plus it has the ATSC tuner which I get free over the air HD channels that look amazing.

do these things work well as computer monitors?

(it sez VGA input, what resolution is that?)

Great TV for the price. Bought the 27' a few months ago when it was on sale for $550. Only issue I've noticed is the hissing noise (very difficult to notice). I have my computer hooked up to it with a DVI to HDMI cable, running at 720p (1080i is also possible but the interlacing makes small text unreadable, just like it would on any TV).

done, missed that earlier.

I am thinking of getting the 27" for my parents, they have a big old-school wall unit that has a fixed 30" wide space for TV. This set is like 0.5 inches wider though.

I axed my 19" Benq for a 27" Acer bought for $535 @ Zellers a few weeks ago.
It's hooked up through DVI and works great for Internet, gaming & multimedia.
I don't do any type of graphics or word processing at home,so I don't have any problems with the lower rez.
I could see it being a problem with spreadsheets or small text,so try it first.

i guess u gotta see it yourself to see if it's what u're lookking for

I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to stuff like this heh, however I'm looking to buy a new TV, and I'd like it to be a flatscreen one. Is this TV worth buying, or even looking at, if I don't currently have HDTV capabilities?

No, because for SD channels/sources the quality on regular non-HDTV CRT is usually better than lower end LCD TV's such as this one. Depends what you use the TV for really .. if you watch 24, Heroes, Prison Break, or other television shows in HD, you'll want HDTV. And right now there is no standard for HD-DVD/Blu-ray, so until then you're only taking advantage of HDTV widescreen for watching TV and playing PS3/360/Wii games.

Ahah! There it is, was going to bump it instead of starting a new thread but couldn't find it when I searched for keyword 'Envision'

I was at FS today and the picture quality on the display model was very good, maybe it varies greatly from one set (or revision) to the next??

Listen to what is said by owners of the TV in the forum mentioned up there.

People who say they've gone to FS and looked at it and not enjoyed the picture quality..keep this in mind...People at FS have NO IDEA what they're doing....you still have finetune the picture and settings.

Keep in mind they might not have hooked up a HD source to it either.

I own this tv and i'm very happy with it. Placed beside the Samsungs and Sonys I felt it held up very well and it excelled in certain aspects.
Especially when 1 TV is 1/2 the price of all those others

What should I get? Which is better?

Envison 32" for $750 at FS or the Viewsonic 32" N3252W for $739 at Costco?

I have this as mentioned in my earlier post and absolutely LOVE it! Comapred it side by side with Sony and samgsung....also got it for $420+tax during FS friends/family sale and use the Double Dip coupon ;) anyone? lol

Also, has several outputs for hdmi, vga, side/rear and I don't seem to havethe pressing twice power button problem...

Also got 1 year of HD TV box/ channels during Rogers promotion of this Tv!!! so savings of $30/45 per month....

I picked up the 32" Envision also during the FS Friends Family sale a few months back and, so far, I love this HD TV.....it has astonishing rich color when watching DVD or HD digital channels broadcasting in 720p or 1080i........has lots of inputs and I have not had the power button issue that some have experienced ...there must have been a bad production batch out there ?

I would purchase another Envision in a minute !!

32" on sale again..

What would people recommend between the Envision vs. the Daytek at Costco or any other models in that price range?

Having owned both - i would say VS simply for the costco warranty, and the VS does have a superior image when hooked to PC. Trust me on this - windows on the VS makes the TV look like an actual monitor (you cannot tell especially when it comes to reading and displaying text), the Env. you can tell its hooked up to a TV.

I've the 32" but am going to return it soon.

The ghosting is apparent when you turn it on but disappears when the TV's "warmed" up enough. Blacks not too great, colour is alright. HDMI upconverted DVDs are a tad grainy and you can even make out a few pixels but none dead. Four corners do bleed a bit white but can be adjusted by lowering contrast and brightness levels. It's a solid HDTV for those unfamiliar with buying TVs in general but I'm looking for a bit more, however.

You gotta look at the back and see how they're connected, FS like to cheat
Component on higher ends and rca or even COAX on the cheap TVs
They can also adjust the settings to make them looks worst
