We (may be 4 person) are going to travel north: Vancouver- (air)-Whitehorse-(rent car)- Inuvik - (car) - Whitehorse- (air)- Vancouver. We may start from March 6th, 2007 and come back on March 15th, 2007. Is there any body can guide me how to get the following items:
1, two-way air tickets: Vancouver-Whitehorse-Vancouver
2. Rent a SUV with unlimited mileage in Whitehorse.
3. Low price accomodating place along the route: White horse--Dawson--Eagle plains--Inuvik--Tuktoyaktuk.( two beds or more beds room required)
You can also contact me through my email: yy4470@hotmail.com
Thanks.

Van to Whitehorse flights run $600-1000 each. There are very few cheap accommodations in Whitehorse, the only ones I can think of are the travelers hostels.
I was there a couple years ago, I had a great time, but found that everything is more expensive than down south.

That is a long, and I mean long trip. The road sucks, the distance between communities is huge, gas is a big issue, did I mention the road sucks. Your liability on the car may be a lot and be prepared to pay for damage (which will happen). You can only drive on the road (which sucks by the way) on certain times of year.
Your best bet would be to get in touch with he territorial government travel resources. There ain't much up there and you pay whatever they want to charge. Often hotels are Atco trailers attached together.
The fishin is spectacular though.

Air canada is probably your best bet.
2. Rent a SUV with unlimited mileage in Whitehorse.
I know there are all the typical rental places in whitehorse so that shouldnt be a problem. Try hertz, national, budget... there all there.
3. Low price accomodating place along the route: White horse--Dawson--Eagle plains--Inuvik--Tuktoyaktuk.( two beds or more beds room required)
Whitehorse you have a full range of choices, super 8, cheapy hotels but plan on about 125/ nite for a room.
Dawson its the off season so a hotel room should be easy. Theres one right intown that should be the only one open. Same rate around 125/nite.
Eagle plans same deal, 125/nite. But i have no idea why you would want to stay in eagle plains for the nite theres just ahotel there and thats it.
Inuvik is around 150/nite and there are 3 or 4 hotels to choose from
Tuk well i have no idea im sure theres a hotel there but i doubt its anything fancy. If you want to see the place you can just stay in inuvik and drive the 3 hours there on the ice road and drive back when your done.
Also just a hint of advice the road from whitehorse to inuvik is extreamly desolate. Bring winter gear and supplies. I once got stuck in eagle plains for a week because of a snow storm and the road closed quickly so plan on that happening. Other then that if you want any other advice you can send me an email or pm as ive lived in inuvik before..
