always build own or at least buy a custom PC

with $1100 you can build a nicer spec than the one you got there from NCIX although your TUNER does kill the budget here if you on a budget anyway

NEVER BUY FROM FS/BB

So what changes do you suggest within reason???

That turns this into a $1400 computer, I was looking for suggestions on how to better improve what is their and keep the price around $1000 to $1100

if you can build you own, build your own.

These days it's generally cheaper to go with pre-built than custom built. The only reason to go custom is to have better control over the quality of parts. Having said that, you're pretty much stuck with what you have.

You can't reduce the price much further without decreasing the parts a lot more, with the exception of buying Windows or not.

What is the main use for the PC?

Computers built by HP have the worst motherboard ever, you can't overclock on them. (I'm not sure if you're going to overclock or not, but since you're getting a E4300, you should...)

If you ARE overclocking, add $20 and get the ASUS P5B motherboard instead. (Excellent for overclocking, #1 i think.)

And the x1600 pro you chose can kill the 7300LE on the HP.

Just so you know, HP uses Asus motherboards. You can see that on the HP's spec's site for the model.

Photo editing using CS2, some video editing, watching movies and watching/taping Tv shows to burn to DVD for the kids.

The biostar was rated great by Toms Hardware and anandtech. It is solid, reliable, inexpensive and offers good overclocking and features for the money.

Agree. Custom Built PC is better ... you can choose the components per your own requirements and your own usage of the computer....

u can buy a cheaper custom PC .. try CC or IFN or ESkynet, NCIx is too expensive and far away ... assuming u are in Toronto ... CC good prices while ES offer 500GB HDD free upgrade for now ..

Couple of comments on the EQ you picked...

Get Rid of the LG DVD Burner in favor for a Pioneer 112D..

Why not go with a board with integrated video and then you can save some $$$ and get something better when you can afford it ....

I have heard LG burners are the best followed by Samsung, Lite ON and Sony. I have never heard of anyone using Pioneer before, do you have any websites on this?

I want some kind of video card because I heard it maked DVD and TV look better and also if I install Vista it will improve that as well. I will game a little but just older games so I think I have chossen an inexensive card that will do everthing I need but still allow me to game and run newer programs in the future. Or am I wrong here???

If you want your burner to fail after 1-2 burns then LG is the brand of choice ... for best drive for the money Pioneer 112D has the other ones beat pretty much with a few exceptions ...

If you get a different motherboard with the GMA3000 you won't have any problems with vista and will pretty much be on par with that card that you were looking at plus the motherboard will have more features than the one you were lookin at ..... You will still save a bit or at least break even and get a better board, definatly worth it ....

good luck.
