I'm looking for a new super laptop to compliment by desktop, I've recently bought & retruned 3 laptops in the last 4 months, as none of them were able to met my needs.

I'm leaning more towards the higher end HP Pavilions, since they're the only ones who make one that meeds all my needs at an affordable price. I'm looking for one with the following specs:
- must have a full size keyboard
- 17' or > LCD display
- 1.9 or > GHZ processor
- At least 160 GB HDD
- 2GHZ RAM
- 256 to 512 + dedicated video card
- HD DVD ROM
- Builit in TV Tuner / PVR ready
- 8 cell battery or better
- 4 USB ports | HDMI | S-Video | Firewire

The HP DV9235 & DV9000t seem to be the only models off the top of my head that meet or exceed these specs. Why don't any of these models ever get released down here?

I've noticed that none of the laptops i've found from major CDN sources don't even come close to these specs. I've only seen these laptops in the U.S or UK. I'm considering having by friend buy 1 for me in the U.S. or from eb'ay & drive it over. I Need it within the next 8 weeks.

Has anyone bought a Laptop from the U.S & brought it down here? What was your experience like? Are there any issues I need to watch out for?

What model was this on?...and how did your video card over heat what caused it? Was it the battery or the video card?...and Did HP cover this under waranty fo ryu twice?

Also not saying it has to be from HP, but thats the only one i've found, I've seen others but i'm not looking @ spending $3000+.

We've been on the hunt for something similar, only dh needs it to be upgradeable to 4gb of ram and run on XP. Read bad reviews on the HP9000z, not keen on Dell, leaning towards Toshiba Qosmio line (have one now).

If you come across any laptops with your and my specs combined let me know...I will do the same.

I have bought my personal Toshiba Satellite on eBay and it was a good experience, had a friend bring it over from Rochester for me.
