Hi, I was wondering if using an internet website to send text messages to your rogers phone costs the "receiver" money since its "free incoming txt messages"

internet websites such as
send a text message through the rogers.com website or

textem.net

How about you do a Google search with the keywords "rogers text messaging" and I bet you find what you're looking for.

I created this thread because i did look and on the site it says

*Not including premium messages (3rd party alerts, content, contests and promotions)

thats the main reason i asked, cause my friend says she gets charged if someone does it to her. shes on rogers too

For Rogers - if you receive the text message while in the United States - depending upon the American carrier that sends you the text message - you may be hit with a charge for delivery of the message.

Of course you were charged. You were roaming on another carriers network when you were receiving messages, so the roaming rate always applies

Not true, I've receieved text messages in US, UK and HK, no charges... you can't control when people send you text messages, its would be unfair...

Sending is a completely different story

just because you weren't charged for it before, does not mean it stays that way. You probaly did not read about the recent price changes.. Why do people bother with trying to defend it anyways? RATES CHANGE! WOAH WHO KNEW?

Its usually free incomming text messages sent from the phone itself. So normal text messages.

If you go on a site where you can send text messages via email then the reciever gets charged.

using this link:
http://websms.rogers.page.ca/sendpcs/english/

it's free to receive and send for non-roger customers right? Nowhere on the site states it is free.
