On Schedule 3, I am filling out the section where you report your gains or losses in mutual funds. The first column is named "NUMBER". Number of what? Shares bought, shares sold, or is it something else. What do I fill in there? Is it so obviously I am not getting it :(

It is the number of shares sold.

I think it's just what it means, NUMBER
I had 8 items in my Schedule 3 (Attached), in Studio Tax, then it sums it up for me and display the total in Schedule 3

I had mine like this
1 Trimark 2005 $137 $131 ___ $5.66
2 ...........
3 ...........

If it wants # of shares, wouldn't it say so explicitly?

I know. It's confusing. I am using StudioTax, a software certified by the Government. It won't allow you to enter any decimals. If it indeed is referring to shares sold, wouldn't you end up with decimal points most of the time. Maybe I should call on Monday if no one at RFD can confirm one way or another. Thank you.

It should be the number of shares sold.
