Would it be possible to upgrade this processor from a Gateway MX6453 Laptop (AMD X2) to an Intel Duo Core 2 processor (2GHz or more) and do you think that it would increase my performance? And does any one know where I can buy Intel processors for laptops?
Detailed specs of my laptop can be found HERE (http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/BladeK8F/1013913Rsp2.shtml).
Thanks for any help.

Different sockets and the BIOS will likely not support it.

If you want to change the processor, you gotta change the mobo, and to change the mobo with a different socket that will fit in your laptop, is slim.

build a PC with a core2duo and keep your laptop for surfing and other stuff like that.

Thanks for the help guys.
So I would need to have an AMD-made processor to upgrade? Or is there no possibility in upgrading?

i think you already have a very fast laptop. you won't be able to upgrade to an intel processor, and even if you could, there won't be much gain in speed.

If you are unfamiliar with computer components to not know that different brands of CPU's use different sockets and motherboards I would not attempt opening and replacing laptop CPU processors.

However, if you do want to go ahead it is possible on some laptops to replace the CPU. However it really depends on the laptops motherboard and CPU. Some custom laptops, or whitebooks, like the ones from ASUS are user configurable so it is very simple to replace CPU, memory, HDD, mini-pci cards, etc. But I am unfamiliar with the Gateway laptop of yours.

Best bet is to look up the Gateway's motherboard chipset and go from there.

I know a little about computer components. I'm just wondering because I saw this informational video on CNET about upgrading your laptop and he just flipped off the keyboard, moved some things around, and then plopped in a new processor.

if you were to buy a c2d t7200 cpu by itself, it would probably be like $500. might as well start saving for another laptop
