Where to buy a Good Car Jack?

i j/ did my first oil change and 4 wheels rotation on my new car past saturday,
i bought a jack+stands from Costco for $30, the jack seemed
ok..and stands looks cheaply built....
it was only a trolly jack, maximum lift was only 13" high...
in order for me to lift both wheels up at the same time,
i had to use a 24" x 24" x 2" thick concrete slab to shim,
pump the jack @ maximum height,
just to fit the stands on both sides. ( i really dunno
if this was safe).

anyhow, i'm thinkin' of returning it and may purchase the
Michelin 2.5 ton jack offered in CT for $63. are there any
other options out there? is this a really good price for one?

btw, i'm not plannin' to lower the car or add lip to it...
so low profile Jack isn't necessary~

Why not use steel ramps. I used to change my own oil in my garage, but now its just too much of a hassle. However I still have them. If you are interested let me know. The car that I used to drive on them was a 1978 dodge diplomat and a 1991 Honda Accord.

nope, can't use steel ramps, when i do oil change, i rotate the wheels
too, so steel ramps isn't an option..

I just bought that jack yesterday. My smaller 1 1/2 ton won't extend high enough to change the tires over on our X-Trail. Haven't used it yet.

Gotta get the snows off soon.

I got that jack over a year ago, and it's pretty good, lots of height to beable to jack up the Pathfinder. Only problem is, it doesn't go low enough for the jacking points of the GM "jacking puck" locations.

Don't use concrete for a shim! Use wood!

I have the michelin jack. It's nice and low... even for my lowered car. Then again I'm not slammed.
