I have a personal website (.com) on godaddy.com and the domain costs $8.95 US a year to renew it (with email and blogs and stuff). It gets cheaper with each year if I renew it 5 years, it is $7.87. Should I stick to godaddy.com? Or other big and reputable sites offer much lower prices?

Also, anybody know any godaddy.com coupon codes?

Depends on what your needs are. Some hosts are more expensive but they offer more stability and more features. If you don't mind advertisements on your personal site, you can probably get FREE hosting. Again, depends on your needs.

For 1 SINGLE domain, it's difficult to find anything less than US$6.95, so the most you could save is $2 PER YEAR. I'd say it's not worth even the bargain hunting.

As for hosting, I would NOT recommend using any so-called "free" hosting with ad (banners or else), even for personal websites. It's not difficult to find half decent hosts for the price of a food court lunch per month.

DreamHost!

If you prepay, $7.95/month gets you...

200GB space
2TB bandwidth
Host unlimited domains/subdomains
PHP 5
Perl
An easy software installer
75 user accounts
SSH access
1 free domain as long as you have the plan

... and probably more that I forgot to mention.
If you want I can also make a coupon code with extra free IPs, or extra free domains, or a discount.

Me AND EVERYBODY and his mother-in-law and her dog all can make some DreamHost promo codes (a.k.a. affiliate links).

Really? What if I'm already a dreamhost user... I remember last year I paid like 100 bucks to renew (can't remember exactly)... and the year before was the year when I first joined with a promotion code... costed me like 8 bucks.

How does that work?

DreamHost's promo codes only work for new sign-up's, although there could be some workaround, like signing up using a different credit card AND domain name. (Of course, you don't need a domain name to get hosting there: you can have a dreamhosters.com subdomain instead.)
