AMD Price cuts will be effective April 9th.
Right now they haven't even updated their wholesale prices on AMD site. The site still shows prices as of Feb 2007.

Their s/h was quite expensive compare to ncix, free shipping over $100 was over two or three weeks ago otherwise some of these deals are actually quite good.

The 7900GS video card = good price but shipping
Canada Post Regular $17.39 About 2-9 business days - = SUX
But - I caved - bought two - one for me and one for buddy so we split the shipping.
$170 after shipping and taxes and this is a good price.
Same card is $235 at Infonec (before tax)
So I saved about $100 after all things taken into consideration

The 7900GS is a decent deal. I got my BFG back in January from an NCIX sale for $140 AR. I don't expect these cards to ever drop below $130. They'll just get phased out before that happens.

Good price/performance for the 7900GS? I plan on making a desktop with an Intel C2D E6600 and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. If so, I'll stop by Anitec tomorrow and pick one up.

Nothing else, in Canada at least, comes close for $150. In the States you can get the X1950 Pro for really cheap.

All X2 65nm parts have odd clockspeeds. 1.9/2.1/2.3/2.5Ghz (3600/4000/4400/4800). X2 4200+ is 90nm.

These seem to be post-price cut prices. The MSRP for the 3600+ is supposed to be $69 and that's on par with the Anitec prices.

these are pretty much what the new prices will be, if anything you may see a buck or 2 difference, if you need a AM2 3600 may as well buy it now

thanks for posting this, got a 7900gs....I was getting annoyed at my onboard 6150 video for playing GTR2 and the $150 mark is my limit.

7900GS is much better. If you want a relative comparison...
7600GT = X850 XT
7900GS is a variant of the current flagship (79xx) while the X850 XT is the previous generation's flagship. You're one whole flagship generation ahead and that's a big difference.

The 7900gs is the next step up from the 7600gt. This 7900gs does not come with the hdtv output cable (according to my brief research), so that may be an issue, though it does support it if you pick one up. I don't do mail in rebates anymore, so for me it was between the evga 7600gt @ directcanada vs the XTX 7900gs @ anitec. Iif I overclock the 7900gs, I should be able to crank all the fancy 3d settings to max on GTR2, which is what I want, and it should be infinitely better then my onboard 6150. There's only $20 in price between the two, so I figured why not.
Here's a comparison review which includes bith the 7900gs and 7600gt:
