oh not at all. I'd rather pay a couple extra bucks and get good food instead of paying $20 to go to Mandarin and fill my stomach with crap.

Nowadays you get what you pay for!

Perhaps there should be a GTA tag for this

Lucy's is also in Waterloo and Waterloo is not even remotely part of the GTA.

Last month the Lucy's on Bristol at McLaughlin had great deals every Sunday, not sure if thats still the case or if that applies to other locations.

I went to Lucy's once and I was disappointed.

I guess I should have asked how the food would be done. I had no idea and wasn't expecting all the seafood I ordered were deep fried. I'd rather having seafood steamed or at least in light favour (i.e. sashimi) so the original flavour would be complemented or not overpowered by the greasy smell. And also it could tell how fresh the seafood really was without being deep fried.

I tried to get this at the Waterloo Lucy's but the server hadn't heard of any such deal. But as the fish & chips is $11.95 regular price (+tax), I still wound up getting it. Pretty good fish & chips, lots of fish and not a stupid amount of breading.

Incidentally, the absolute WORST fish & chips I ever had was in England. You'd figure, you know, England, they invented fish & chips, they should be able to manage it right. Right? No. My God. Breading which was alternately soggy and fried into a hard lump, tiny little bits of fish that was somehow *dry*... bad stuff.

Funny enough, the absolute worst ever hot dog I've ever had was also in England, from a hot dog street vendor at the north end of London Bridge. I swear, there was no meat, just gristle and maybe a bit of sawdust for flavour.

Swansons TV Dinners and Chef Boyardee must be considered gourmet
cuisine in the UK.

My alltime favourite memory was my family going to the fish and chip truck parked at the side of a road/highway and they would cook it up for ya, and wrap it in NEWSPAPER. Oh man it was so good. The closest I can equate to that flavour wise is LenDuckworths on the Danforth near Main st.

It's kinda your fault though for not knowing what you ordered. I assure you they do have non-deep fried seafood and it's quite good.

I think it's Tuesday when they have their raw oysters cheap and it's delicious but not all locations have this.

I'd also recommend their chicken or seafood penne...sooo good.

Heads up everyone. Lucy's has decent F&C.
You can however get their same F@C for take out for $6 plus tax. Best deal going. It's been that price for the longest, and the last time I had it was in the fall or late summer.

Yes, fish and chips is very good food, very healthy I might add.
You can taste and feel it for a few hours after the actual meal:razz:

Probably true, but deep fried stuff aren't the most healthy thing here either ;)

But we can all agree that Mandarin is crap!

The best F&C is Parkside F&C on Greenwood just south of Gerrard. Man I grew up eating it and they always make the fish (halibut) fresh, it's not pre-fried and.

Gotta make a trip back one of these days and just have it everyday. :cheesygri
