My brother lives in the Jefferson Forest area of Richmond Hill (NE of Yonge and 19th) and he and his family love it there. It's a very quiet area with lots of young families. All the homes are anywhere from three years old and newer, and most are great sizes (3000sq. ft. and up). If I'm not mistaken the homes on the SE corner of Yonge and 19th are a little older and also slightly smaller. That may or may not work out depending on your budget.

I live around that area, on the other side of Yonge (Gamble) - I lived in Thornhill before on Bathurst and 7, now, I totally love it here. Driving is less stressful, people are generally nicer, and what I love the most is the fact that plazas, places are newly built or recently built, so everything is sort of fresh. I'm discovering Newmarket, Aurora - lot's of good places there, restaurants, shops, you name it.
