ok so I was selling my ipod on kijiji and I got a reply from some guy that wants me to ship to France. it was an obvious scam but the thing is he agreed to pay first,
so I figure most likely he is using fake credit cards, and he sent the money to my fake paypal account, I know is going to disappear but how fast? and what should i do with it? lol.

You are the scammer in this scenario, no?

If people insist in using paypal, cash out the funds prior to shipping, dont just sit there.

You need a bank account to cash out the funds, right? Can Paypal withdraw money from your bank account or reverse your "cash out" transaction?

After I got my pp id verified by providing a bank account, I can now write "eChecks" to pay sellers. The eCheck is a direct debit from my bank account. This make me believe that Paypal can withdraw money from your bank once they verified you.

Responding to the OP do not get youself into trouble just tell them you don't ship. Who do you think is smarter in scamming people? You or the scammer?

Yes your account gets negative amount which you have to pay.

Lets say. He sends you 167.98 if he do chargeback on you. you gotta pay that amount.

Your call GtG, this is RFD, not craigslist, what you do there should stay there.

And besides, accepting foreign offers pose a huge risk in terms of online payment... so you basically accepted responsibility of what may happen by taking the payment.

I'm not sure about this, but as long as you provide proof of shipment, ie. a valid "shipping ID", then Paypal won't deduct funds from you.

I would not advise using Paypal. Are you so desperate to sell that you're willing to take the risk? I wouldn't. Just stick to local buyers. Or sell on ebay and ship within Canada or local pick up only.

I don't think he is falling for the scam, rather he is wondering if he can turn it around and use the money freely without having to worry about repercussions. I am guessing you made up a new paypal account or used an old one? Let the money sit there and see what happens in a month. If nothing happens, I guess you could buy something online with it as opposed to adding your bank account and perhaps making things worse in the end.

kijiji france dude is definitely a scammer. tell him to go to kijiji france if there is one. he can probably find it cheaper there and it would be better for him. his response will probably be that he needs it asap for his daughter graduation and he is willing to pay you a higher amount than asking plus shipping. he will then ask you to ship asap after receiving confirmation.

or you can just not waste your time with him. he will probably spoof the email confirmation of new funds in your account. he wont bother sending money from a stolen credit card paypal account. takes him 2 secs to change the "pay to:" line in the fake email so it really nothing to him if you think it will inconvenience him by pretending to continue on with the deal.
