Anyone know if there's some sort of price guarantee at National? I just bought a new pair of Supreme 70 skates last week and paid regular price for them!! Think I could get any money back?!

No idea on price guarantee, but couldn't you just return it and re-buy it? Or did you use it way beyond reason already?

They will refund the difference, I have done it before at Markham location(Woodbine/16th Ave).
I think they did it as refund and repurchase at the discounted price.

The first word in your posting title is APPAREL -- so how do skates & golf bags qualify as "apparel" which usually means clothing?

Does the discount only apply to apparel? Why did you type that in the heading?

I didn't really type Apparel in the title, I just had to best choose what category the deal is in. Even on the picture it says all merchandise.

HOSTILE? Rough day? There was absolutely nothing hostile about my post so CHILL OUT -- now that WAS meant to be hostile! Maybe you have time to be driving all over but I don't so was merely asking for some clarification, not for YOUR opinion! So, Thundercloud, go "storming" somewhere else!

Thanks OP for clarifying -- we don't have one close by & didn't want to drive out there with kids in tow to find out it was only on apparel.

They do sell golf stuff, but their clubs the last time i went in (bout 3 weeks ago), went too high end, more ram level stuff. Their accessories, gloves and stuff were good, like 25$ nike gloves, balls i belive there was a good selection and I really cant rember the selection for carts and bags. I bet this somewhat varies at each location, so i'd call ahead and see if its worth going to see.

Your first post while maybe not intentionally hostile sure sounded like it. And this seems to be reinforced by : Maybe you have time to be driving all over but I don't so was merely asking for some clarification, not for YOUR opinion!

It's as if you were criticizing OP for wasting your time.

Anyways, this seems like a good deal for non-sale merchandise. Maybe some under armour or rare sale merchandise.

Advance apologies to OP; don't mean to hijack your thread --greatly appreciate notification of the sale and subsequent clarification provided to my question.

I was ignoring the comments of a few immature ignoramus until now; I don't appreciate being called an idiot, hostile, etc. for merely asking for clarification. "Children", until you have a little more life experience under your belt, are able to "walk in someone else's shoes" and learn how to be non-judgmental, perhaps you should consider keeping your comments to yourself. Not condescending, merely reality.

In the meantime, stick to the facts of the thread and enjoy and savings you get at the sale!

I went to the National Sports at Eglinton and Winston Churchill yesterday to do some early scouting.

1. Yes they have golf clubs. I specifically went in looking for full sets and they were ranging from $180 - $250, nothing higher than that. They had lots of individual clubs in store and lots of bags available - carts too (i think). A lot of the stuff was already on sale, so I assume it would be 15% off, unless they end the sale before Friday.

2. I think someone earlier asked about inline skates? Yes, they sell those too, but their selection isn't that great. Nor is is that great for ice hockey skates.

3. Not to hijack the National Sports thread, but this is for those talking about baseball bats. I had stopped by Play it again Sports yesterday and they were having a sale on aluminum bats. The original price tags of some of them were $229, knocked down to $69 - $89. I'm not a big baseball player, so they could have just put fake price tags on there, but the one bat I am referring to was an Easton bat - and I know those are expensive. I couldn't tell if they had been used or not, since PIA sells some new stuff too, might be worth a look. (This was at the Dundas St W & Winston Churchill location).

Not really sure about the carts, but for the bags I remember seeing bags in the range of $39 (I think) - $100 (for the really good ones). I wasn't really paying attention to the bags, so I'm not 100% sure. From what I remember, the pricing on the golf equipment was somewhat comparable to Sportchek, so checking their website might be a good guage. I do remember they had quite a few different bags on display, but some might have been duplicates.

Actually, National Sports usually has a really good selection of ice hockey skates compared to other chains like Sport Chek/Sportsmart. Top of the line Nike/Bauer, Eastons, etc. They don't carry Graf though. Same goes for other hockey gear (pads, sticks).

RE: golf; I saw they had a bunch of TM R580xd drivers for something like $180. Seems like a pretty good deal if you get an extra 15% off.

are all of you people afraid of the phone? Instead of posting useless commentary or questions in the thread, why dont you people just call National sports?

Here is a script for you * people:

National Sports: Hello, National Sports.
You: Hi do you sell __________.
National Sports: Yes/No we do/dont (sorry).
You: Ok thanks (be polite people) bye.
National: Thank you bye.

They will refund the difference, I have done it before at Markham location(Woodbine/16th Ave).
I think they did it as refund and repurchase at the discounted price.

So guys, I went today to try and get a price adjustment on the skates I had bought last week and they flat out refused to do so. I hadn't even used the skates yet and they said right out that they would not honour any price adjustments specifically for any savings from the Friends & Family sale (they said head office instructed them to do so).

So I went on to ask, what's to stop me from returning these skates and going to another store to buy the same pair? And he said that they would just send an e-mail out to the other stores to watch for me because I was trying to beat the system (my name was on the credit card, but i could easily have paid by cash or something and they would not know). ********.

So I asked, how would they know any customer would do that anyway? He went on to say that 9 times out of 10, anyone that was going to do that, would ask for a price adjustment first. So the key then is NOT to ask for a price adjustment, but to flat out return the product and then go to another store to buy the same one if you wanted to. Again, so ********.

I am going to go to the National near my house instead and just return them and buy the next model up for only an extra $10 after all that's said and done.

So frustrating.

Thanks for the tip, I will go for ther return first next time. I think he is just threatening. No one can stop you from buying that same pair of skates in another store. They are TWO seperate transactions.

Went this morning to pick up some baseball equipment.. the printed coupon wouldn't scan so the girl at the counter just scanned one of their business card sized coupons..

As for returning the skates, I wouldn't even bother going to another store.. just return it to that guy and buy it again.. its not like they can't refuse, he's just being a jerk..

Edit: Girl did ask where I got the coupon from though.. so hopefully they won't start asking to see an actual email (as stated)

Just got back from Waterloo National Sports. They're having a huge clearance on shoes right now, 1/3 of store were shoes. They have all sizes and most are marked down by ~50%. Lots of soccer shoes too.

The coupon I printed out also had trouble scanning. Something about this customer cannot be found. I hope it stills works tomorrow!

Wow. That's terrible customer service. Honestly, if that happened to me I would call the head office and complain about that particular cashier/employee. That's extremely rude behavior even if he was having a bad day or some other reason for being a douche.

went this morning to the one at 427/dundas. I forgot the print out, but the rep was nice enough to give me one of those cards with the code. I went there looking for bike gear, but they don't sell bikes. I picked up a 'never-flat' outdoor basketball for $22.50 ($30 - 25%).

The tennis racquets were all on sale, most were <$100 (original price ranged from $150 - 200). I'm not sure how good the deals are, since i havent bought a racquet in a long time.

Yeah, I'm bumping this one up for the same purposes.
The last "Friends & Family Sale" was

National Sports Friends & Family Sale 25% off Feb 22-24

therefore, would it be safe to assume that the next one up would presumably be around the second week of June ? (The original post was in 2007). That would be in a couple of weeks time.
