I haven't done this in a long time and I want to make sure that I'm doing it right. I'm going to install a new PATA drive in my brother's computer. I just need to set that as the primary hardware and format it. The existing drive will be moved to the second PATA slot and once Windows is installed, it'll recognize the second drive. Then I can just copy the data over and proceed to remove the second hard drive from the computer?

Sounds cool, to make it easier, install windows with the new drive only, once done, make sure bios boot to that drive before putting the old back in, the rest as per your message.

Did that last weekend but with SATA drives..
