Hyundai owns Kia. The two companies will very soon be one. Hyundai beingt he higher end vehicles in the line (somewhat like Infinity is to Nissan and Lexus is to Toyota).
As for warranty items, no company (or very very few) will warranty any wear items (brakes, windshield wiper blades, clutch etc) so even the Hyundai and Kia will not help in that regard.
It is well known though that Kia has had some quality problems with earlier vehicle and that is all gone now. Both Hyundai and Kia have the best warranty program in the business right now. I am also over 6 feet and I can very comfortably drive my Son's Kia Sportage and have driven a Sedona and liked it very much.

wait ... so you're complaining that your purchase is unreliable due to having to do maintenance on it? Other than the starter (which was probably covered under warranty), everything you're listing are just maintenance items.
Other than the head gasket issue (which doesn't happen to most cars), GM vans are pretty reliable. That being said, if you drive like a moron, they will fail.
As far as your questions re: value, you can get a similar van at auction for anywhere between $15-$20K, if I'm not mistaken. Check autotrader for more accurate selling prices.

I don't really get it either, LOL.
"Half our brakes goes"??? You mean all of a sudden they just stopped working? Or do you mean you have warped rotors or worn pads? Or do you mean 50% of your pads have worn? Or do you mean the front or rear brakes have stopped working entirely due to some problem? "Half our brakes goes" doesn't really mean anything.
Also how many vehicles have you owned? Brakes are never covered under warranties except on higher end vehicles where brakes are covered under maintenance programs that are included. However even on a BMW (which includes brake pads in their program) I doubt they would replace brake pads if you wore them out as quickly as in one year. Learn how to stop riding the brakes! LOL. Brakes are wear and tear items--it's like trying to get the warranty to cover your gas fill ups, oil changes, or tyres when they wear out.
If it's warped rotors then that's unfortunate but that can happen in 1 day of ownership, nevermind 1 year. It shouldn't but it can happen depending on how you brake and other factors.
Starter failure is not common on these engines so I would imagine that was just one of those things. I'm curious as to why you needed new wheels though--that's also not a very common area for problems on any vehicle.
they also told me that my van is unsafe to drive on the road with the brakes like this and they can't let us take it with us! anyways it';s a good vehicle as in those problems but if i addressed it to the dealer can i get something out of it?
Keep in mind they call dealerships stealerships for a reason... A lof of them will tell you anything to make money. They could be telling the truth--the vehicle may be unsafe to drive, but if you drove it in okay I can't see how unsafe it could really be if you just wanted to drive it out of there and back to your house. They could have disconnected brake lines in the meantime though, and refuse to do anything until you pay them, which I would not put beyond a stealership.
How much money are they asking to repair the vehicle and what work would they actually be doing? For a vehicle that new, any wear/tear brake items I cannot see costing over a few hundred dollars to repair at maximum. If it's just one axle and it's over $300, I would take the car elsewhere. If you have CAA I would get the car towed out of there. Either to your home (where you can replace the brakes yourself) or to an honest/reputable mechanic where prices aren't as exhorbitant. If the price for repair is reasonable though, I don't see what you have to complain about really.
In fact, you could have the car towed to the curbside and then drive away once it's off their property, lol. (Assuming they put the car back together as it was which they should.)
I don't mean to sound rude but it does sound like you don't know that much about cars. You're the type of person stealerships (and other crooked mechanics/shops) love to see. They just start telling you that you need this that and the other done and charge you all kinds of money before they will release the vehicle.

Though getting rid of the van is certainly an option, I would consider a few things.
Even if "rare" in your opinion GM vehicles are definitely not known for their resale. They are great to keep for 10+ years but not that great if you want to own a car for a few years, sell it, and then buy a new one. Also were you joking around abou tit being in "perfect condition" when you just talked about the problems you've had (and are currently having)? LOL. If you aren't joking you're not better than the dealers who try to scam people with the same "pefect condition" nonsense when the car is far from it.
Another thing I would keep in mind is that simply changing a vehicle manufacturer is not going to make your life oh so much easier. You're still owning a vehicle and still subject to maintaining it. Now I'm not saying that you won't have a totally trouble free experience with a Kia/Hyundai or a Mazda (you might) but if you're being dealer-bullied into unnecessary service now that doesn't mean that won't change later either. Not saying the current brake situation is just dealer-bullying (again we have no idea becuase "brakes goes" is a meaningless statement) but I'm just thinking there's a little more to this story than "this vehicle is a piece of ***!".
Also, if the brake wear is a result of poor braking habits you can wear out brakes quickly on any car, foreign or domestic.
All that said if you feel the vehicle really is a lemon I would get rid of it, but I'd do so trading it in or something like that, not lying and trying to sell it as "perfect condition". There's an old saying "what goes around comes around" LOL. Also again, being a GM expect like half of what you paid for it--the resale values just aren't that good. Just keep in mind your vehicle "troubles" could be sourced somewhere other than the particular van you own and may just as easily carry over to another vehicle.

I stand corrected ... I should know better, there are two GM vans in my family (none with this problem, however).

Well, that's always a good reason to buy a GM U-body.
Did the sleek Bertone styling seal the deal?

Since you like rare vehicles, I suggest this 1989 Nissan S-Cargo (http://www.japanoid.com/cardata.php?carNo=27) ... a steal at $8,800! :D

The 8 passenger version MAY be rare, in fairness to the OP...

That's the Montana SV6. The OP might be talking about the original Montana; they made both in 2005...

What year/engine are your vans?
