ATE rotors at CT...any good?

Thinking of getting a pair of the new rotors that CT has on sale from time to time...

ATE is a fairly good brand for OEM rotors, but I never tried the Canadian Tire ones.

ATE is one company that has been at the forefront of automotive braking technology for many years. I usually recommend people use ATE SuperBlue/TYP200 brake fluid, for a very good price/performance brake fluid, for example.

However I'm wondering if these are actually designed/made by ATE or if they are some Canadian Tire concotion using licensing of the ATE name? Just because I haven't seen these outside of Cdn Tire/Partsource. Not saying they don't exist outside of these stores but just saying that's the only places I've seen them this far.

There are various Canadian Tire products that are like that--not really made or designed by the name that's slapped onto it, but rather just brand licensing on products made/designed by another smaller manufacturer, all engineered by Canadian Tire.

If they are geniune/pure ATE products then I would say that they are probably great brake rotors, despite the strange design.

If they are just brand engineered by Canadian Tire, on the other hand, their strange design may be more of a gimmick. They might be decent brake rotors but there might not be any real benefit from that slot design.

I'm not saying one way or the other (in fact I'm saying I don't really know enough to say) but I'm just saying those are two possible views I see this on this product.

They are a genuine ATE product as multiple stores in the states (incl. Tirerack) sells them.

I have read some favourable, and some not so favourable reviews. But the ones that that gave bad reviews were typically people who autocrossed their cars.

I would think these rotors would also go through pads faster than regular blank rotors.
