I am putting together a new gaming system, and trying to decide on a motherboard. I am definitely going to be getting either an e6600 or a q6600 depending on the Intel price drops next week and will be running an 8880GTS for a video card. The main decision I am trying to make is to go with the nVidia 650i chipset or the new Intel p35 chipset, or even a p965 board. I am kind of leaning towards the Asus p5n-e with the 650i chipset. I read some good reviews and it isn't overly expensive. Anybody know of any problems with this board or have any other recommendations?

Well, we don't know your budget for a motherboard. What sort of features so you look for in your motherboard? eSATA? WiFi?, RAID? Any overclocking?

Price range is around 130-150. I don't think I am going to bother with a P35 board. More interested in either the p965 chipset of the 650i. Probably either the p5n or the gigabyte 965-ds3.

I will be doing some minimal overclocking nothing too serious. What I really want is the best gaming performance out of the box.

Either of these two are your best options

Both are very reliable and excellent for compatibility and overclocking.

looks like the only difference between those boards is that the DS-3 has the solid state capacitors. S3 seems to be a much better bargain.

Which is better for overclocking E2140 or E2160 since only a few bucks between them, planning to go with the cheaper Gigabyte S3 motherboard you mentioned above...TIA
