I've never ordered online but I would avoid the Richmond hill location. They seem pretty clueless up there. The Bay/Dundas one is the one I always hit. They're friendly, knowledgeable, and have great prices to boot.
What a difference there from shopping at CC! I haven't set foot in canacomp in a long time because of Infonec

I've bought a fair bit of stuff from there since I've found them. Bay/Dundas location, extremely good service and prices on par with CC.
If you order online, you can send it for pickup at any one of their locations free of charge. I tend to just order online and pick it up at the Bay/Dundas location. They give me a call when it's ready for pickup, and I go and pay for it at that point.
Also worth noting if you sign up as a member for their website, they'll take 1-2 dollars off most of their prices on the website.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember seeing an Infonec in RH.

hey,
I just bought p5k mobo, ram ...they have better price than CC nowadays. Better friendly service than CC.
CC people don't care. Once my LG dvd rom exploded inside , they did n't even replace it...then LG sent me new one.
But infonec people also not knowlegeable. So if you want to ask them technical question , then you are asking in a wrong place.
Decide what you want and go buy there. And use it within 7 days so u can return if it is faulty.

do you have to order the stuff before hand or can you just go to the bay/dundas location and grab it? as long as the customer service is good i can deal with the knowledge myself. do they have that 2% extra charge for using creditcard?

Infonec at Richmond Hill? Never knew that, and not shown on the website:

I bought many stuff from infonec before since almost 6-7 years ago (their old location) and I have been pretty satisfied.

i have never shopped at infonec before, but i have never had a problem with CC (the north york location). as for technical information, i usually know what i'm looking for, this could be the reason why the sales ppl dont seem clueless to me. Although, i once could not install ram into my desktop because the slot was too tight, the CC guys told me to bring it in, and they did it (free of charge, which really isnt anything).
but the prices for infronec and CC seem about the same.

I share similar opinions/experiences to most of the people in this thread. I stay away from CC unless they carry something that no other local store carries and I am forced to pick it up from there. I find that their customer service is not particularly great.
I love Infonec, I have been buying locally from their Markham (HQ) location for the last two years or so. Their prices are competitive with CC most of the times. I agree that they are not particularly great in the technicalities and specifics, but if you know what you're looking for - its a great place to go. Lots of stuff in stock on site at that location too. I think the only two things I actually had to have them special order was a P180B (when it first came out) and my 7900 GTX since I insisted on a BFG over the other brands they had in stock on hand (XFX or something, I forget).

I genereally call ahead and see if they have it in stock. 90% of the time they will, if not, they can get it in the next day or two (depending on when you call) from their warehouse, then you can go in and pay for it then.

Warehouse or wholesaler....lol...most computer stores will tell you it is their warehouse but actually the wholesaler they deal with...anyway shop there many years ago when Markham store was thier only store...the tech people knew what they were talking about then..nice shop but I am not a loyal person to only one store, I buy from whoever sell for less.

Good store. The last two items i purchased, a high end vid card, and a 500 GB SATA HD were significantly cheaper than CC's price.
Guys at the bay/dundas location are very friendly.
Btw, I believe they don't let you return items, and its only exchange for store credit. I'm not 100% sure on this, I can't remember what he told me....i might be confused. Perhaps he said only if the item is faulty.

Could be either. According to them they had it in stock at the Markham location and just threw it on the truck they have delivering stuff daily, so I just picked it up at noon the next day.

they are very friendly at the bay and dundas location. i was bought speakers and a monitor stand that they dont normally carry on hand there. they did not have both in stock but they said they will order it for me. all they needed was my first name and phone number. no down payment, no other info.
they got great up-to-date prices and nice specials.
their online pickup form is flawless. just select what you want to buy,do a pickup checkout, and get a call when its ready to pick up and pay cash.

Same here...I ordered a low profile bracket for video card and they got it the next day and called me...the funny part was I changed my mind in the mean time (note I didn't have to leave credit card number or anything so I could have just bolted)...BUT I picked it up anyways because it was only $10 and am using it now and actually quite happy.

On a slight different note about Infonec :
I just picked up a Sapphire Theatrix 650 hybrid TV card and asked the dude if I can return it if I couldn't get it to work...and he said NO, only exchange if defective. I was actually a little surprised.

Deal with them serveral times. Better price than CC. Asked CC once if they can match price and they don't. Infonec match price for me twice.
Friendly store in Mississauga. Usually you can call and check for stock. Then order and pick up later if not in stock.

There's one younger Canadian guy working the downtown and the head-office location in Markham. He knows what he's talking about, seems to be a real enthusiast... which is somewhat of a rarity these days in such a market.

Their prices are low, which means their margins are razor thin.. which means they can't afford the expense of returns.
None of the stores that have good prices accept returns, because they wouldn't be profitable with such low prices if they did. You need a margin markup like BB or FS to offer 30-day return policies.

Why don't you ask them? If anything, I think price-matches are on a case-by-case basis. Only they will know the correct answer.

I had my current PC built by them 4 yrs back, awesome service and the PC is going strong still today :) Also bought random parts and whatnot from them and always had great service at the Markham location.
