I bought this laptop at futureshop becoz Im going to need a new one soon, and I had gift certificates there so my purchase MUST be made at future shop.

I chose this one simply because it was on sale and looked decent.

I know nothing much about computers.

They claim it was 1099 regular, but I got it for 899.

I have not opened the box yet, is there any major reason I should consider not keeping this laptop?

Well what do you want to use the machine for in the first place?

17" isn't exactly the most portable of machines if portability means something to you....

The vast majority of the time I use it at home, I realize its not that portable.

My eyes are sensitive (especially after laser eye surgery) so I really like a big bright screen.

I am however considering that, as I realize battery life is less as well on those.

but I do not travel alot right now.

Thanks for replying.

I would go for dell more than HP.

Bad experience with HP laptop and their service.

I probably would have gone with dell, the problem is they dont sell dell at future shop, and I needed to use my gift certificates

+ 2. I've owned and HP laptop and had horrible service. My bro-in law owns one now and had the same problems with the power cord.

i have a few friends/family with HP laptops, overall they seem to hold up pretty good. Except for the Power cord (As mentioned above), it ripped. Other then that it seems pretty good.
