It's easier than you think. Heck, being a guy, you've probably already got experience pitching a tent.

Why does one need a tan to go camping???
save yourself the hassle of getting "fire stuff" and just buy a stove. Personal Stove from MEC or a Coleman from CT.
Bring waterproof matches or a lighter.
In addition, make sure you bring a First Aid Kit, Topographical Map + Compass (assuming you know how to use it), Machete, Toiletries and Garbage bags + rope - the last thing you want is a bear ruining your day because you left food out near camp.

Check out this page, got some great tips.
Also has a section on camping gear.
It's little outdated, but meh, does it really matter.

hay mvc20, where are you going camping? back country or car camping?
basic items you will need though are
-mosquito spray - buy spray with highest deet %
-afterbite
-flashlights
-knife
those are just the basics, if you are going back country camping you may need more items

I have that same gun. Remington 870. I don't know why you'd want steel shot though, it's not duck season yet.

why do you need to get a tan before you go camping? camoflauge for the nightime so bears won't see you?

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw #2 shot on that box.
Stick with slugs or 000buck at least. Pissing off a bear with #2 shot is not a good idea

Some camping grounds are well equipped with power, running water, toilet, shower room, you can bring whatever you want that can pack in your car.:cheesygri

oh... I didnt mention this...
I was only listing things you need to survive.
From there you can figure out what itmes to bring in order to fulfill those needs.

If you really have to ask what you need to go camping past a tent and a sleping bag, you really should not go camping.

Nonsense. Lots of people come from cultures where there isn't any camping, so some people don't have the first idea about what they need. That shouldn't stop them from doing it.

mosquito Spray
I went camping for 3 weeks before, and the itchiness of the bites went away after the first week. I was more annoyed with mosquitoes buzzing at your ear when you go to bed, but otherwise the bites didn't itch for the remaining two weeks.

Be sure to store your food in the tent with you.
Or the trunk of the car.
It's one of the two..... ;)
***Disclaimer: If you really know nothing about camping, DO NOT STORE YOUR FOOD IN THE TENT***

did u read my threads thoroughly? i posted those at a time that i could not contact the csr and urgently needed to know the question at the moment (before drop date). its not like, i'm asking questions like "whats the number for ryerson?" or "whats the ttc's website"? if i have a choice, i would rather call ryerson or ttc than to receive ignorant answers from ppl like u on rfd.
something like "what i need to bring, i'm camping" is personal preference and basically you act based on your own instinct. and bring what ever u think its appropriate. there isn't a proper list for what to bring for camping. hence for my reason to say, people need help for everything these days.
