Okay I thought I did better start a new thread rather than hijack the other thread.
So how is housing classified in Toronto. I checked viewit.ca and they seem to have different types of housing compared to montreal. What is the difference between bachelor and 1 bedroom apt?? Does 1 bedroom apt have additional room or something?? Also what is this with sharing rooms with a common washroom and kitchen. HOw many people are usually in those houses  Should suck waiting for hours going to the washroom :D

Bachelor means no bedroom. esentially your living room is your bedroom.
1 bedroom is exactly that. It has 1 bedroom and a separate living room.
Many people, especially students rent a house that has 3 or more rooms. The house only has 1 bathroom and 1 kitchen so if there are 3 people renting 3 rooms, they all have to share the bathroom and kitchen.
If you can find the right roomates, it's can be pretty fun. My friend shared a house with 3 other people and all of then had good hook ups to different clubs and stuff in town.

So bachelors apt == studio apt in montreal
1 bedroom = 3.5 apt in montreal
That is less misleading. I was so confused with the .5 in Montreal when I first came

yes:
So bachelors apt == studio apt
Though:
1 Bedroom = 1 Bedroom apt/condo
what is a 3.5 apt?

3.5 has a hall, bedroom, kitchen and washroom. The .5 is actually 1/2 and it refers to an unclosed room (that is what someone told me). So it should actually refer to the kitchen.

Ahh interesting..good to know.
So yes, a 1 bedroom apt would be a 3.5
Watch out though, some people advertise a 1 bedroom but what they really mean is 1 bedroom rented in a 3 bedroom place.
