I want to know if my new setup in my basement warrants a projector or just a standard TV.

The wall where the TV will be is about 7 ft high by 8ft wide its in a very dark area although i do have lots of light i can turn on and have a home theater type atmosphere. I would be sitting around any where from 9 to 15 ft away.

I'm looking to use it to watch TV and play movies. The TV signal that would be coming in is SD rogers...not even with the digital box..just straight cable. Movies would be from an up converting DVD player. Oh and if its a projector the celing is only about 7ft high but i can mount it more then 15ft away. I also want to hook up my laptop to it.

Any help would be appreciated Thanks!

What are your questions? We have a projector in our living room, works great and the experience is pretty awesome. It is permanently installed with our home entertainment system, although we also have a small TV we watch during the days and when the 'TV is just on'.

The setup is hooked up to a standard DVD player and a computer running HTPC software.

If you can sit 9 ft and more away then you are in projector territory.

The light control is very important but if you can get to near darkness you will love it.

There is no TV that will match the screen size you get.

You can attach the cable box, DVD player or your laptop to the projector but the best way to run it is using a computer with built in TV tuner and DVD player, that way you only have one device to hookup.

I have had a setup like this for over 3 years and still love it.

PS you will probably end up switching to HiDef cable. Once you see the difference between DVD and regular TV you will be dying to get to HiDef.
