I didn't know that there was an issue with fake coupons. Were there indeed fake coupons or were some CT stores not honouring the legitimate coupons?

Last time CT had this deal they had $10 off $40, but when that expired they updated the coupon on the site with new expiry dates but it was still $10 off $40, but prior to sending the email they changed it to $10 off $50 or more, then when people tried to use the one that was $10 off $40, they were called fake, even though they were posted on the site.

yeah, I was able to use the revised $10 off $40 coupon. it all depended on the cashier/manager. both versions scanned correctly. it was CT's error

I haven't done it last time, have a couple questions here
1. Do I have to receive their coupon through email in order to use it? or simply print out the pdf file provided by op?
2. On coupon, stated that one per transaction and one per day. so, as long as I separate my purchases into two or more orders, I will be able to use more than one coupon, correct? and more than one per day?
please let me know! there are a few things I want to buy from CT.
Thanks!

Hi,
My wife actually made $10 on her last purchase from CT. She bought the demonstrator model of the Li-on cordless drill which was missing some accessories with the $10 coupon. Returned the merchandise because I was able to get a NIB model and was credited $10 more to her credit card. I can see a loophole where one can actually get an item worth approx. $10 for free, if you want to go that way.

As I'm sure CT staff is reading this, please try to keep it related to the original "meaning" of the thread.
You can post how you intend to use the coupon, what you'll buy with it and such, but please don't try to explain or promote how to rip CT off.
10$ off 40$ is already a very good deal especially if you purchase items already on sale.
You're usually lucky to get 10$ off 100$...

Would've used 2 yesterday, but ended up using only 1 since they don't have the O2 sensor for my car (he said it's dealer-only but lots of web sites sell aftermarket ones so I'm not sure he knew what he was talking about). Too bad cause the O2 sensors were 20% off ending yesterday. It would've been a good deal with the 10$ off.
I ended up spending an hour in the store trying to get to 40$... lol this is getting out of hand. Got 20$ worth of junk, all junk that I'll use though.

In the future, just get a raincheck from the customer service desk. You can use it at any CT store, so even if you find it at a different one a week later, you can use the raincheck from the first store to get it for that price.

what's this $10off30?
also, if it works like any $XX off min. $XX coupon, then stacking would require that you meet the min. subtotal of the coupons combined i.e. 30 + 40 = $70 min. purchase to get 2 x $10 off.....

Scanners work fine on plain paper when you print with a laser, they should be okay with an inkjet just adjust your droplet size for the paper weight your using (bleed = bad) AKA buy decent 90 ish gram paper for inkjets :lol:

I only see two different torque wrenches on their website. One is on sale for $39.99 and the other one is $119.99.
The one in the link I provided says:
* 3/8"-drive torque wrench, with 25 - 250" lb. torque setting
* 1/2"-drive torque wrench, with 30 - 250" lb. torque setting
* Plastic grip handle
* Ideal for the medium-use DIYer
* Lifetime manufacturer's warranty
Does that mean it will work on 1/2" and 3/8"?
Sorry I don't mean to turn this thread into a wrench talk.

$119 is usually the regular price of the 1/2" wrench (mastercraft maximum).
Just remember the 3/8" is inch-lb and is ideal for light stuff like spark plugs.
The 1/2" is ft-lb and is ideal for stuff like lugs nuts on tires.

Haha I love how they're thanking their canadiantire.ca shoppers by giving them an 'in-store only' coupon. It's Canadian Tire's way of saying, 'GTFO YOUR HOUSE AND GO SHOPPING LAZY BASTIDS!'
Ps. Thanks for this I was about to go to CT to grab some new shoulder pads :)

Thanks guys for the info. REPPED YET AGAIN! :)
I only see two different torque wrenches on their website. One is on sale for $39.99 and the other one is $119.99.
The one in the link I provided says:
* 3/8"-drive torque wrench, with 25 - 250" lb. torque setting
* 1/2"-drive torque wrench, with 30 - 250" lb. torque setting
* Plastic grip handle
* Ideal for the medium-use DIYer
* Lifetime manufacturer's warranty
Does that mean it will work on 1/2" and 3/8"?
Sorry I don't mean to turn this thread into a wrench talk.
Just a heads up, this is a little off topic (FYI, don't mean to turn this into a wrench talk either). There is a huge thread on the Drive torque wrenches somewheres (should be easily to search.) IMO for the DIY, the best torque wrench are the lever beam style. They are accurate to within -/+ 5% of a properly calibrated torque wrench, and they don't need to be calibrated (ifhandled properly, not abused.) Unlike the torque wrench, it needs to be calibrated and the frequency depends on the amount of usage. As well, to get it calibrated is very expensive, about a $100 (equivalent to the price of a new one.) Unless you are mechanic by trade, chances are you won't pay for a calibration, thus, turning these tools useless. You can google it as lots of people say the samething.

That's absurd - your torque wrench does NOT suddenly become useless if you don't have it calibrated regularly.
It is likely that it will become slightly less accurate over time - but not by much if it isn't abused.

Suddenly... NO ( maybe if you drop it)
Less accurate... YES.
By how much, who knows? That is WHY YOU GET IT CALIBRATED. If you are going to work on your stuff, at least do it right. A torque wrench that is not calibrated is pointless. It defeats the whole purpose of using it in the first place.
That's absurd .
Sheesh... jerk alert. I'm just trying to give some advice... a recommendation. :idea:
Baileyr, go buy it and use it on your stuff, no one cares. If you don't calibrate it, again, no one cares.

I'm sorry - I find your advice absurd and I fully understand the concept of calibration. To argue that an uncalibrated beam-type wrench is more accurate than an uncalibrated clicker is absurd at best.
Your own links don't even support your claim that an uncalibrated clicker becomes "useless". The one link that compares accuracy shows all the 1/2" clickers are all more accurate than his test jig (you can't measure the accuracy of a device with an inaccurate test procedure). I suspect that the error introduced by parallax due to a novice user reading a beam-type indicator would be the largest source of error.
The torque wrenches that I use for work get calibrated regularly. My home ones do not - they just don't get used enough to warrant it. Having said that - I'm pretty sure my home clickers are more accurate than my old beam-types. YMMV.
If you are happy using your beam-type, more power to you.

*Sigh*
You need to learn to read, I never said that. I AM SAYING: with the beam wrench, you don't have to calibrate it, it won't go off calibration (assuming it is well taking care off.) With a clicker style, it does go off calibration, and year after year it can very well become less and less accurate if you don't calibrated. Thus, if you don't calibrate your clicker, then why are you using it to measure the torque?
Your own links don't even support your claim that an uncalibrated clicker becomes "useless". The links I provided show two things, the accuracy of the beam wrench compared to others and the advantage and disadvantage of each type. You need proof that an uncalibrated torque wrench is useless? Can't figure it out on your own?

So at your job, your company goes through the effort to calibrate their clicker and you are comfortable using ones that aren't? Obviously, you don't understand the concept of calibration and why it is done.

Depends on your budget and how long you're keeping the car.
Get the cheap one (sure start) if you are selling within 2-3 years. Otherwise, get the Eliminator. The most expensive is the Optima series, but is superior in quality. I picked up the Eliminator and have a 3 year warranty at any CT in the country if I get stuck.
Core charge is $10.
Want to buy a car battery. Which one is better deal, guys?
