View Full Version : How To: Cooking Ramen Noodles With An Egg And Other Goodies

First: Go to the store, get supplies. You'll need chicken flavored ramen noodles, an egg, cheese whiz or American singles, and some chicken. Remember that this is ramen, not some kind of dinner from a four star restaurant, so don't get any fresh chicken or even the chicken breast canned in water, no, we are looking for minimum quality and maximum sodium. That's why I settled on Mixin' Chicken (in broth).

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen01.jpg

Then boil 2 cups of water.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen02.jpg

Newb tip: don't put the whole brick of ramen is; it will be impossible to eat, because it's all one long noodle. Break that ****er up into 2-4 big chunks while it's still in the bag.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen03.jpg

It's almost time to put the noodles in the water, but don't forget about the seasoning packet!

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen04.jpg

Set that little guy aside for later.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen05.jpg

Now you're ready to dump the noodles in the boiling water.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen06.jpg

Open your canned chicken.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen07.jpg

Break it up into individual pieces.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen08.jpg

Dump all the chicken & broth into your cooking soup.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen09.jpg

Crack the egg into a bowl.

Beat it.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen11.jpg

After about 2 of the 3 minutes that you are cooking the soup, add the egg, and stir for just a second.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen12.jpg

Now add a giant glob of generic cheese whiz (or a couple singles and some milk) and stir it up.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen13.jpg

Last, add contents from the seasoning packet to taste.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen14.jpg

Find yourself a giant bowl! Sorry about the washed out photo. I didn't review the pics until after I ate it all.

http://www.chs2001.com/ramen15.jpg

Eat the noodles/meat/egg with a fork, then drink the juice. Yummy!

not my cup of tea, but if you like a cheese-based sauce on ramen, more power to you, op. . .

I'd take out the cheese and add some fresh or frozen vegetables and just skip the canned chicken.

I've never seen pink chicken in a can- bleh, barf:lol:

I would add some carrot and mushrooms at least, maybe some green onion, ginger is also cheap usually.

or add some of the leftover bbq chicken they clear out at the grocery, some mushrooms and hot sauce, tabasco maybe and have tom yum soup :)

Now what could you make with Ramen and bacon? any ideas?
ramen, bacon bits and........?

I do the egg part quiet often and sometimes maybe throw in some fresh shrimp if its lying around in the freezer or even bak choy...but the cheese part as well as the canned chicken, kind off, does not seem right...

1. That chicken is probably from chickens with AIDS
2. That's some sort of imposter cheese whiz, wtf real cheese?? that defeats the purpous of processed cheese!!
3. Eggs are ok, but you dont need to beat in a bowl, you can crack directly into boiling water and mix it in there.
4. Your arms are hairy as ****.

That looks disgusting, SICK! .........and the noodles look gross too....

Mixin' Chicken? Smooth N Cheesy? The end result looks like Fear Factor to me.

cheese with ramen is actually quite good..if you goto any japanese ramen shops here in Vancouver, they actually have it on the menu..but they use cheese slices..and they add it on top of the ramen before serving, not when it's cooking

but then again, i'm sure they don't add chicken in a can or milk to the ramen

as for the comment about draining the noodles...you're suppose to cook the ramen in plain water, take it out, drain it, run it under cold water then boil the soup base powder and the other goodies in another pot.

also I've noticed that adding corn niblets makes ramen especially yummy. And yeah, don't mix up the egg..it'll make the soup base on white and gooey..just crack an egg into the boiling water and let it boil as a solid piece.

yeah.... it was nice of you to take the time to take pictures and cook and all... and although it might actually be tasty... that looks really unappetizing and not very healthy at all (that's alot of cheeze whiz you put in and the chicken didn't look very good either to be honest.)

personally, i'd rather put fresh stuff in my ramen... like veggies. or even leftover veggies and stuff from the night before. even in worst cases, i'd put a fried hot dog sausage with a fried egg.

I guess the giveaway is that all the products don't have French on them. So the source is not local (Canadian).

This just really took out any validity that the original post might have had. I can't imagine anybody thinking that - I have never broken my ramen brick, and have never encountered it being "one long noodle".

Ugh, its so bad, it hurts.

I think hairy arms may be related to processed cheese consumption.

Make some real food. That stuff looks really gross.

Buy some chicken legs on sale for 99 cents/lb. and some cheap frozen vegetables and add a bit of chicken and vegetables to the noodles and it would taste a lot better - like chicken noodle soup.
Cook a few chicken legs and take the meat off and freeze it. Take out the amount of chicken you need (very little) for the soup and add the frozen veggies to the noodles while they're cooking.

You can tell this board is absolutely dominated by Asians when the biggest complaint about the thread is OP's hairy arms. Real men have body hair people, get over it.

Did any one actually try and make this? I've heard of adding eggs, but I still don't want to try it until I get a little more direction on the matter.

I only put grated cheese in mine if the noodles is strained. I usually just add onions and the seasoning, along with hot dog sausages or any left over meat. Frozen vegetables can work too.

It's better if you beat up the egg and mix a little bit of the hot water in it, before pouring it into the soup. And only add the egg when the water is boiling.

Pretty good stuff. I'll post pictures soon.
