View Full Version : Possibly a scam by pHaGz? Or it is a scam!? <SOLVED>

Ok guys, I'm soooo stupid here.
First http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=499422
pHaGz said he's selling that laptop. It's really good and he's selling it for that low.
So I paid him $945 via paypal to cover the shipping.
First he said he was printing the label, and said my postal code was invalid. Then she said he'll take it to CP.
He came back on MSN after 40 minutes or so and told me that CP will email me the tracking number and he doesn't have it.
I know that sounds fishy. So I keep asking him and he said he'll call the CP outlet to find out about the tracking. Still the same answer.
At first before I paid him I keep asking him for the receipt and he said NCIX doesn't give receipt. I told him they do you just have to ask them. He told me he'll do it but not right now cause he's lazy.
I don't know why I am so stupid to trust him on that one.
So today I paid him and he said he shipped it. Still I don't have any email from CP.
He left me a positive feedback and said I can leave him one after I received the item.
Also he was saying that he wants to get a iPhone that is why he is selling him laptop.
He claim to have 1 voodoo machine, a Dell XPS, and that ASUS.
I asked him if he bought the iPhone yet and he said not yet. Not until you receive your item cause I don't want to spend the money.
I was reading this thread http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497659 and my case seems to sound the same.
I just filed a dispute on paypal. I'm not sure if it'll help.
But i'm waiting for him to come online and talk to him nicely of refunding me. :\
I hope I get my money back. Tomorrow I'm going to call my CC company to cancel the payment.
If I do get the laptop and I get my money back from the paypal dispute, I would pay him back cause he seems to be such a nice guy on MSN.
Any other advice guys?
Thanks,
Jin

don't know why you would pay such amount of money to someone with no feedback and new to RFD, do you notice almost all of his posts are bumps?

ok, so on the same day I filed a claim with paypal. I know his account in unverified which means that he can't withdraw the money.
Today he is telling me that paypal wouldn't let him refund because of his limited account (he's lying).
He's saying that the $945 is being hold by paypal until the dispute is solved.
He keeps telling that the claim is not letting him refund and I told him that is BS, that's what the claim is suppose to do -- allow you to refund. He then told me to cancel the claim so he can do the refund and I said NO I WOULDN'T!
He couldn't withdraw the money right? Cause his account is verified.
I asked him to send me a screen shot with the transaction and I get this from him.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/yhap2003/xczc.jpg
Since he's not replying to the dispute which he has until oct 30 and if he doesn't reply, I will get my full money back right? Because 945 is what paypal is holding.
He keep saying that he shipped the item and the place he shipped it from did not give him tracking. Which is similar to this http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500504 (without any tracking it's useless)
So I told him, if(when) i get the laptop, I'll cancel the claim and you'll get your money from paypal. But he was bitching about it saying that he don't have the money, I do. I told him he has the money it's just that paypal is holding it until the dispute is resolved.
He said when I get the laptop, I should ship it back to him or he'll call the police. I didn't say anything about that cause I know I'm legit.
But if he doesn't reply to the dispute, I get my money back. Correct?

You'll get the money back after October 30th unless he replies to the claim and can provide the tracking number to Paypal before then.

dun worry (u can read my post, i was scammed by 2012)
I ain't sure if he will get the money, (I believe 2012 did get the money in my case), u can call your cc company for a chargeback. That's what I did. It takes a bit of time to get your money back though. like at least 45 days. Since he has no tracking number, u will for sure win in the dispute. However, if he withdraw the money from his paypal account, then paypal won't be able to recover the money for you (like my case, really wtf). Anyhow, absolutely DUN close the dispute in PAYPAL. Ignore him if he asks u to close it. I copy and paste all the log onto the paypal dispute conversation.

Kool. the funny thing about the dispute is that I can't type any message in after the first one.
Well his paypal was not verified so he cannot take any money out and it is on hold because of the dispute.
I also called my CC company and I was told that I can get the money back but by-law I have to give the seller 30 days and when it hits 30 days I can call in and start a dispute with them also and they will ask a series of question and re-emburse me the money. That is why it's going to take a while, but right now I believe paypal has the money on hold.
So I'm just waiting for Oct. 30.

I sensed something was fishy with this guy. I wanted to buy his 360, and seeing that it'd been up for sale for quite some time I thought he'd be eager to sell it. However, replies took forever and they conveyed no interest in a sale.

So after I get this over with, I don't think anyone is going to buy from him.

Or maybe I should warn everyone first before anyone else gets tricked.

It's okay yhap2003. Go get some rest. Be assured that you WILL get your money back (eventually) if he is unable to produce the tracking number. Don't lose sleep over this stupid sh1t (and it's rare that I use this type of language, but I'm serious here), instead, think of it as a free lesson learnt. (Or, I guess it's not free if you have to pay interest on the amount owing on your credit card, but you get my drift.)

2 dollars? zzz
You really need to talk to your credit card company... However I don't know what they can do at this point in time.
I believe you could of avoided this scam if you asked for live pictures of the unit.
Always demand a picture of the item you want to buy. A picture not as in some internet store or stock pic... but an actual one taken from a digital camera on the actual item itself. And demand several from different angles.
If he can't provide a live picture, then don't buy it from him.
I would never do a deal at this price range long distance. Stick it to local deals next time where you can actually go and see the unit physically. You also should of asked for collect-on-delivery option as well.
GL I guess, let this be a hefty 945 dollars lesson. If you ask yourself, "could this guy be scamming me" every time you want to buy from someone. It would save some of the commonsense that is lost with the excitement and greed.

Anyways, so he didn't withdraw any money because he has no bank account not credit card linked to paypal but instead he purchased sometime from NCIX for $914.21. I have yet to find out what it is.
He made the purchased on the same day but. Paypal is still investigating it.

UPDATES:
Today I got news on this.
His NCIX payment was reversed and the NCIX payment was credited back to his account.
Paypal would not allow him to do anytime with it until he verifies his Paypal; which he would not do. That mean he cannot refund, send, withdraw or use the money.
I called paypal and I was told that the money would be credited back to my credit card within 2-3 days so I will have to wait.
So basically he did not get anything from NCIX.
I'll keep you guys up-to-date with what is happening when I receive more info.

Here is something funny that just happened.
Today I got an email from paypal saying
We would like to notify you that the following transaction has been completed for your PayPal account:
They credited me:
Canadian Dollar (Primary): $0.00 CAD
U.S. Dollar: $942.17 USD
Current Total in CAD: $857.20 CAD
I'm loosing almost $100 <$o$>
Which should be the opposite.
I believe the lady who helped me yesterday just credited the money to my account and she thought it was USD.
When I check the status of my dispute it still says "Being Reviewed By Paypal" and I don't see any transaction in the "Recent Activity" section.
Which initially the money is suppose to go directly back to my credit card and not my paypal account. So I believe that the lady just gave me the money. LOL.
I don't mind if they give me the money twice :D
More update coming soon.
Update:
I called into customer service and she said she is going to credit $85.06 CAD back to my paypal and I have to wait 24 hrs.
So I guess my problem is solved. Hopefully I don't run into any more problem. I guess I'm lucky this time. I'll be sure not to make the same stupid mistake every again :)
Oh, and I must thank everyone for their support. And now lets nail this SCAMMER. I hope the RCMP is doing something about the NCIX shipping address cause that's the only valid address for this SCAMMER.

Yay!!!
I got my money back!!!
Now....what about iPhone?
Darn Paypal took .50 from me for the withdraw fee. =P
Currency Balance
Canadian Dollar (Primary): $85.06 CAD
U.S. Dollar: $942.17 USD
Current Total in CAD: $942.26 CAD
So when I withdraw the $85.06 CAD they took $0.50. Bummer, oh well atlease I got my money back.

Your lucky OP... Some scammers would usually get half of your money from PayPal recovery.. Whoever this guy is, he's probably dumb enough to know how PayPal works. Paypal purposely make people to verify so that no scams are around... And usually withdrawing the money takes a week... GOOD JOB OP! YOU NAILED HIM. THIS IS THE WORST SCAM I EVER SEEN!

His infos are posted already. And yeah I'm getting that LG from Akuma_kumite.
I have his personal information from an un-named source:
Josh Mckniny
97 Ave.
Edmonton, Alberta
T6L29C
Canada
Postal code: T6L29C on google map located at 29 Ave NW
Telephone # 780-321-4563
The NCIX shipment was bounded to ship to:
Wilkin Wong
5120 Terwillegar Blvd
Edmonton, Alberta
T6R3P1
Canada
Update
LOL, I'm getting more money from paypal :D
Canadian Dollar (Primary): $97.89 CAD
U.S. Dollar: $0.00 USD
Current Total in CAD: $97.89 CAD
Previously I had $85.06 CAD
Paypal is screwed up because they like to use USD and I believe the SCAMMER's Paypal still has some money left because of that.
