I'm looking at consolidating some really old HDDs that i have and move to a more robust and reliable storage solution. I currently have the following IDE drives:

2 x 60GB
2 x 250GB
1 x 20GB
1 x 40GB

I need approx 1TB of storage and if possible some RAID config so that i don't have to back it up. The data on it will mainly be photos and dvd backups so it's data that i don't want to lose.

Thanks!

If you have a Costco membership, get the WD 1TB external HD for $399.
You can set this hard drive up to allow you are other users to access your HD from any computer (like an FTP server).

Thanks. I do have a costco membership and will check it out. What about backups? How would i protect the data?

The HD, like most external ones, have a push button feature to backup certain folders or drives on your computer. All you need to do is install the software and set the backup parameters.
