1: What do you use to shave?
2: Does anyone know if Jergens Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer actually work? By that I mean if the active ingredients actually does the job and with no side effects.

I first take a shower to soften the skin before shaving. THAT helps alot!
I use a sharp razor that was sterilzed with a quick dab of rubbing alcohol. (This will minimze pimples.) Lather a good think amount of shaving cream. When shaving, it wash the razor very often to get the hair out of it. It shaves better. When I'm done, I rub 100% aloe onto my skin
As well, when saving, go with the hair growth, ie, side burns down. Middle upper neck, go up.

As of now I'm using those cheap 20 in a pack for $5 shavers, I'm planning to get a mach 3 turbo or a gillete fusion which one is better?

I've actually went old school just over a year ago, and haven't looked back.
I use a Gillette Slim adjustable razor
http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/images/c/cc/Gillette_slim_adjustable.jpg
Which uses blades that only cost $20 per 100

For lather I use a shaving soap puck from Crabtree & Evelyn with a badger hair shaving brush
http://www.theenglishshavingcompany.com/gfx/tutorial-silver-tip-badger.jpg
I've been getting the best shaves of my life (and cheapest too considering that my blades cost me $20 per 100, not $20 per 5 cartridges)

ive been thinking about getting that but is it hard to use?... i shave against the grain to make as smooth as possible and using a mach 3 or fusion sometimes doent cut it...

The old school setup is the real shitz.
I have just had trouble finding blades for those. I used Wilkinson swords but can't find in any mainstream retailer.

Good for you c white! Safety razors are pretty comparable to a straight razor shave once you get the hang of it. My hubby prefers his safety razor to any of the multiblade razors on the market.
gh05t, try Walmart for the safety razor blades. We usually find them there or we have even found them at Zehrs. It can be hit or miss though sometimes finding them though as you've discovered.
cmge, never shave against the grain. It tends to cause the typical shaving rash and ingrown hairs. You'll actually get a closer shave with a good single blade with the growth of the hair.

If you're going electric, get a braun. They're the best shavers at pretty much every price point.

There is a learning curve to it for most people, but I caught on almost immediately. I was using Mach 3 before, but would never go back now. The reason Gillette introduced the cartridges in the first place wasn't because they were superior, but, rather because they could patent the blade design and charge more for refills.
Here is the article that got me started;
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6886845/
I usually order my blades of ebay, they're so cheap when you buy in bulk that I've enough to last me for years.
There is a series of instructional videos on youtube which are very helpful too;

I shave electric mainly due to the fact that I have 3 separate 'swirls' that tend to get pretty irritated when shaving with a safety razor.

I sometimes use my Philips electric gadget to shave. Or I use store bought shaving cream and a 3-blade razor (store brand). I wet my skin with warm water, then put on the cream, and shave away!

I use absolutely nothing to shave my face.
As an asian, I have almost no facial hair whatsoever. Maybe once ever 6-8 months I will bust out a $1 store razor to get rid of some loose hairs here and there.

Hahaha! My first thought too!
Ok, as for full beard, no...never. I did the mustache and goatee look au naturel years before it was trendy. After about a year when everyone else started it...I shaved it all off.
Now on with the exotic shaving stories!
I'd start a thread but it would get locked so fast...
As for shaving...you're supposed to go WITH the grain!

but it sucks to remove the hair from between the blades (for any normal guy)...known problem. It shaves well, but removing the hair was such a problem (the guide wires are the problems). So back to Fusion/Mach 3 I go...

taking a hot shower (or hot towel on your face) helps your pores in your face opens up so you can have a better shave. generally, most people don't change their razors until it gets really bunt.
p.s. a friend told me that if you don't have any shaving cream, you can also use conditioner. surprisingly, it works pretty well.

I'm pretty happy with it, I like the flexible heads alot, they bend around corners alot better than previous models.
I thought it was all talk, when they said, you'd need a few weeks for your face to get used to it, but they are right, shaves felt alot better the more I used it, and now I love it.
Get it from ebay though, I got it BNIB for $80US there, as opposed to be $200CDN locally...

A couple people recommended electrical shavers, which I've been wanting to find out more about.
I use the Fusion Power right now, and with replacing the blade every 12 days or so, I still do not like it. I shave against the grain for the closest shave, but often, I get little red spots and such (my skin is still soft).
Anyway, would an electrical razor provide the same close shave as a manual one (comparable to shaving against the grain), and would it be more smooth/less unpleasant to the skin?

Did you just switched over to Fusion Power? I use the normal Fusion, but I had the same problem when I first switched over from Mach 3. I don't get the red spots anymore thought. I found I was pressing the blade too hard before (because I was used to less blade (mach 3), more pressure to get a closer shave).

No electric razor will shave as close as a blade. Even the cheapest twin blade disposable will shave noticeably better than the best electric.
Any good electric razor will be kind to your skin.
With experience on the blade razor you will suffer less though. Stop shaving against the grain.

Every 2nd or 3rd day with an electric (currently a Remington triple head model, but I garee with others that Braun are the best), however since no electric does a great job with the neck area, I follow up with a quick shaving gel and Shick Quattro. Everything takes about 10mins. start to finish. I envy asians or anyone else that has thin to non existent facial hair.
