Wanted to bolt down a safe. Do I just drill it into concrete or does it have to be wood?

I drilled mine into concrete.

Any special bolts required? Where I did it the concrete crumbled and the bolt came loose.

How far did you drill into it? Did you use the right sized bit for the bolts? You need to drill in at least 2" for anything to hold right.

If you are going to bolt the safe to concrete, I wil assume you are installing it in the basement. If this is the case, make sure that the safe can resist water for a while as if there is a flood, you will have some difficulties. My safe is on the second floor, but I have the convenience of drilling through the floor and adding metal plates to secure it. Otherwise I guess I would try to bolt it to the floor joists. The safe is fire rated to be exposed to fire and then drop 10 feet and be exposed again to fire and it's contents will be safe.

I would say only put in one bolt into concrete, fill it with bricks and itching powder, then a note saying "You have inhaled and contacted Anthrax. Contact Police listing DIN 5867485 and this note for treatment." :razz:
Thieves will spend all their time getting it out, and have a surprise when they open it later. Meanwhile, hide your stuff somewhere else.
If you're trying to protect from fire, etc. then, yeah, you'll need to put stuff in your safe. Did you use masonry bits for concrete.
