Okay, I'm stuck deciding which 46" Sharp Aquos LCD TV to buy. The two models are LC46D92U ($2,800.00) and LC46D82U ($2400.00).
The only difference between the two units is the contrast ratio. The 92U has 3000:1 Native and 15,000:1 Dynamic while the 82U model has 2000:1 native and 10,000:1 Dynamic. I really don't understand these numbers and the price difference is $400.00. Is this difference visible to the eye?
I'm on a bit of a budget and I'm questioning if I should be spending the extra $400.00.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Rocco, not sure if you've bought this already or not but if you haven't I think I'd go for the LC46D82U. I recently bought one and it's amazing. Plus, you can get them for about $2,199 at BB and FS now.

Not sure about pricing on D92 but I'm surprised it was only a $400 difference back in December. The biggest differences would be the contrast ratio and backlight system. They are both going to give you a broader range and brighter display. D92's use a 5-wavelenght system while the D82's only use a 4-wavelenght system. I think the biggest difference is with the range of reds you'll 'see'. That's not to say it'll be obvious to you but the spectrum is supposed to be larger.

Personally, I'd go for the D82 because I do not think you'll be disappointed and it's at least a few hundred $$$ cheaper. If you've already purchased let me know what you think. I've had this for a month now and don't have a single complaint.

You'll only really see a difference if you see them side-by-side. I think, on their own, you'll be happy with either one.

FWIW I was at The Bay in downtown Montreal today and they have the 82U @ $1999 on special.
