Illegally parked car in shared driveway (Toronto)

In the back of my house we share a driveway, more like a laneway actually, with 3 other homes. It's a dead end, ending at my property, we all have garages back there too. Well buddy from across the laneway, who has his own separate driveway and garage has convienietly (for him) decided to park his old rust bucket which never moves and has no plates just inside the shared laneway off to the side. With winter here sliping and sliding back there makes it very difficult to manouver past that vehicle without hitting it. Anyways I left the dumbass a note to move it 4 days ago, but being that the vehicle is off to the side where he doesn't even see it, the note's stuck on the windshield, now covered under the snow. I really don't feel like going over there and getting into a heated arguement about why he can't park his car there. I'm in Toronto, any ideas what number to call? How long will they have to move it? It's now covered in like two meters of snow, but that's not my problem. Will it get towed if they don't move it? Thanks.

if u are part owner of the laneway, and the other guy is not, what gave him the right to park his car on ur property? u can talk to other co-owners of the laneway, if your all agree to get rid of it, i doubt that guy has any legal recourse. can anyone confirm?

Being at the end of the laneway, I must pass his car everytime I enter. So I'm hoping I don't have to start up a campaign knocking on peoples doors to get consent from them all to get this guy moved.

The best way is to let the owner know first. Then you can take action to tow the car if he doesn't do anything.

The thing is that if you hit his car you are in trouble. I think you can simply call a tow truck company and have the car towed in owner's expense.

We had something like this happen to us some time ago.We had the car towed but we had to pay $125 to the guy.

Before doing anything legally, just nicely go talk to him and tell him that his car might be a hazard in so-and-so reasons, and kindly ask him to move the vehicle.

Atleast talk to the guy first..

Call the cops and report it as an abandoned vehicle.

I know if I go over there and knock on the door now they won't move it because it's swamped in snow. Likely the thing doesn't drive anyways cause it's been sitting there so long. I guess I should have went over there earlier before the storm and knocked on the door, but they have no right to park in the laneway anyways, I'm sure they know, but they think no one will do anything about it. Is there not a phone number I can call that will tell the owners to remove the car now? A division of Toronto police parking enforcement perhaps? Or do I have to contact some division in the city?

you can fix this problem with a simple bottle of gas + lighter :)
