Is the secret 20x event necessarily a referral event too?

surely they wouldn't have a referral event so soon after the last one - the dust has barely settled! :D

New to Optimum points....

So from what I understand, 34,000 optimum points = $75.00? or $0.0022059/point. Is it also correct that "normal" points is 10/$ spent? making 20x points 200/$ spent? in that case.... $0.0022059/point * 200points/$ = 0.4412! Could that possibly be correct? 44 cents of free purchase for ever dollar spent!?

As for the referral thing... I'm ready to be signed up, just tell me what to do! :D

On a side note, wouldn't that make the Optimum Visa 3.31% store credit on purchases @ SDM?

What's a "secret" event? They don't tell anyone and you just go and buy stuff on a secret day and are pleasantly surprised by how many points you suddenly have?

Pretty much, only many stores make massive 20x signs in their windows the nite before ;)

It's way too early to have another referral event. I hope I'm wrong. :D

I have a question about redeeming points. Is it possible to redeem points for a shoppers gift card? Or do you have to spend it on merchandise all at once? Anyone have experience with this sort of thing? I've been a loyal shopper and have recently accumulated 40,000 points :D :D

You can not redeem it toward gift card purchase.. only on merchandises.. and for the best point-to-dollar ratio, you would want to redeem all 40,000 points in one transaction. And you must purchase at least $75 before tax, or you r wasting your points.. Also, you can wait for a bonus redemption event, so that your 40,000 point would worth $100 rather than $75

Good call on the $100 redemption event. Question though, I recall a friend mentioning before to me that when they have these bonus redemption events that there are fewer deals/sales to be had at their stores. Given that they generally have a reputation to be a little bit pricier than say Zellers, the bonus $25 redemption might not be truly as hot as it seems. That being said, I'll probably still wait for the redemption event anyway and purchase things I probably normally wouldn't buy at shoppers drug mart that are full price - like video games and accessories :D

Well, if you were to spend $200 on a 20x points day, you would get 40,000 points. Take those 40,000 points and use them on a bonus redemption day and you get $100. $300 of merchandise for $200 isn't too bad. :D Especially if the purchases are items like iPods/consoles/video games that typically are very similarly priced everywhere.
