I am fixing up my resume right now, and I am not sure what I should put as an objective. The careers section of the torontohydro site is not up.

My friend told me that they choose your position/what you do after you get hired, so I'm not exactly sure what kind of objective i should be putting. She's on a trip right now so I can't ask her, but I would like to send in my resume asap.

Any suggestions/input will be great, thanks a lot :D

You can leave the objective out sometimes...like I always say, just put your experience, education, and ego...in that order

Hi Everyone,
I'm just wondering, does anyone get an interview scheduled for the Summer Employment - Student position at Toronto Hydro?

Thanks.

They have all sort of positions
You can be hired for Customer care, or finance department or HR department, etc.

It depends what you're interested in. Taking that in mind, there are a number of different locations for TH. you might be working at the DT location if you're doing finance, HR, community involvment, but you might be working at the finch and yonge location if you're doing customer care.

TH provides great experience for Students that are in post secondary school and of course their pay is not bad.

I worked there last summer for Corporate Financial reporting. It was very laid back and fun (the people there were really nice).
let me know if you have any questions regarding this.

as for the objective; you can usually leave that out. it doesnt make much of a difference

Hi PezD,

Regarding the Corporate Financial Planning, how's the work? What did you do? By the way, how's the interview for the position? Any tips/hints I need to know in order to prepare for my interview. I applied for Financial Planning position.
Thanks.

They pay well. I got paid $715/week (for 40 hours), although that is the highest pay level for summer students (unless you are a returning summer student).

$715/week.... that's after taxed? nice.......

715 is before tax.

The interview process and questions are usually different
it really depends on the supervisor/ interviewer/ the person you're going to work with.

the work was honestly a bit repetitive; month end, quarter end stuff. reconciliation of accounts
assisted financial analysts with the preparation of financial statements of the different entities
prepartion of journal entries
communicated with external auditors
analyzing lead sheets

but the ppl are great - i still go back to visit my supervisor and other co workers

the work is not hard; probably the first month into it, it was a bit new and all but afterwards you get used to it.. and i must say it was a good summer job; most of the days i got off on time; some OT here and there but its managable -

Financial planning; i think that is the budgeting and planning department; i didnt know they hire students for that position.. is the location you applied to the one on College? Maybe the supervisor realized he needs a summer student this year =o ; cause i remember last year there wasn't a position for that.

but good luck if you do have an interview with them!
summer is great; they hire around 80-100 summer students; you can meet a lot of ppl if you participate in those different events they have

Thanks PezD for the info.

Hi teufel-man: Yes, I have an interview coming next week.

Hi SoGood: Regarding the posting, I believe it was available around January on the Toronto Hydro website. That's how I applied for the summer position. I think the deadline had passed that's why it's not available in their website now.

Yes at 14 Carlton St but the lady I've talked to didn't mention on what floor.
