It's certainly cheap ... but I personally am not too crazy about analog phones ... battery life sucks ...

Wal-Mart offered during boxingday VTECH 5.8GHz with answering machine and caller ID for $24.88 (50% off) ...

With FS shipping costs, the 2.4GHz one is more expensive than Walmart one.

I got Walmart one, were still some sitting on the shelf. I believe, Bestbuy/FS also offered Dual handsets for $50 later on (5.8 GHz). Very nicely built and good reception. On top of that, no conflicts with your Wireless Router. A better deal than this one.
p.s. The only thing that kills in the phone is not having Speakerphone but oh well !

Trust me - stay away from Vtech phones. Just put your money into a better brand of cordless phone like Sanyo that will last longer. You'll end up replacing the Vtech phone and / or battery every few years or less.

Basically this is more of an answering machine deal. It's hard to find a digital answering machine for 19.99. So it can be seen as a 19.99 answering machine plus a free cordless phone.
