Because two drives use twice as many SATA ports, occupy twice as many drive bays, use twice as much power, and don't offer anywhere close to twice as much speed.

Other than all that though, I guess there is no reason.

B. Not everyone has RAID capability.
C. Twice the noise.
D. Twice the power consumption.
E. More than twice the probability of catastrophic data loss. Who has 1TB of expendable data? Not I...

Still quite pricey...i like to go for the GB per dollar champ...like a 750GB when it drops below $150 next month. The 500GB for $95 buck is still quite appealing...but not for RAID :~)

the only thing i don't like about the wd is that it runs slower (seems like we're going back in time to the 5400rpm era). for data storage i suppose it makes no difference though.
