Because you won't get twice the speed.

Because two drives use twice as many SATA ports, occupy twice as many drive bays, use twice as much power, and don't offer anywhere close to twice as much speed.
Other than all that though, I guess there is no reason.
EDIT: Curse you skyway! :P

A. RAID won't give you twice the speed.
B. Not everyone has RAID capability.
C. Twice the noise.
D. Twice the power consumption.
E. More than twice the probability of catastrophic data loss. Who has 1TB of expendable data? Not I...

And if its expendable why spend $$ to store it.....
Nice deal, might be good for an external case (if the case chipset support 1TB).

Still quite pricey...i like to go for the GB per dollar champ...like a 750GB when it drops below $150 next month. The 500GB for $95 buck is still quite appealing...but not for RAID :~)

I needed a larger storage for my media. They didn't have it in stock but ordered it, should be in 2 days. Thanks OP.

the only thing i don't like about the wd is that it runs slower (seems like we're going back in time to the 5400rpm era). for data storage i suppose it makes no difference though.
