Can't comment on the price, but I didn't end up getting this TV because it did not have any PC inputs (D-sub). Not a big deal, but can be important.

Was that an instore price? or was that an open box item? because online it's listed as $1599.99.
I got mine for 1613.59 taxes in but my receipt says 1499+tax since i took advantage of BB trade in your old tube tv deal. So I could get a price match on it if it is actually listed as 1449 instore.

currently the TH42PZ77 is selling for $1,599.99 at Future Shop (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0770HDS0010094373&catid=23525) & Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926HDS0010094373&catid=23249)
am really curious as to how you got an additional $150 discounted from that price?
by the way, any comments on the anti-glare versus anti-reflection coating that the pz700 has?
thanks,

honestly, i dont even notice the anti-glare coating when watching movies or gaming. it works wonders in my brightly lit room. it's really personal preference. the colours produced by the pz700 have more "pop" though.

Pioneer Canada needs to drop their prices on their Kuros. THe 4280 should be around this price of the 42PZ77.

...but then again, Pioneer has officially announced that their 4280 and 5080are no longer being made. So I guess Pio will stick to the current pricing on the 720p panels.

Glare is not an issue with Panasonic Plasmas. Even on bright days I never really notice it, it's better than my old flat tube.

I went to the store to buy the TV for $1599.9 but when i got there it was listed at $1449.98. Even better, I bought it then. It was a brand new unopen box.
The salesperson said that prices that end in .98 mean they did a price comparison to make sure they have the best price. So no haggle and I was surprised at the price.
I bought it at the Stockyards FutureShop, St.Clair and Keele in west Toronto.

I spoke to the sales guy there and he said that they price match for 3 days if they find a lower price in the neighbourhood. I asked him which store had the deal, but he wouldn't tell.
If you want to buy this set from the Keele FS, you'll need to do it on Thursday as he said they'll take the price match sticker down tomorrow. He implied that there is sometimes flexibility in taking down the PM price right away.
If anyone has seen an advertised price for this set that I could as Best Buy (where unfortunately I have gift cards), that would be very much appreciated.

I would also appreciate that information. I price matched this tv for $1580 a couple weeks ago at Future Shop, and would love to get that price even lower.

should I wait and save my money for an XBR4 40" or is this tv good considering it's a $1000 cheaper?

Saving for XBR4 40" + $1000 is not worth IMHO. May be worth for a XBR4 46"-47" & 50"-52".

I bought this TV from Audiotronics during the Boxing Week sale, and it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I looked at many TVs, and the picture quality on this model was one of the best I saw. HDTV looks great and even SDTV doesn't look that bad. My XBOX 360 looks spectacular as well. I haven't tries Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, but they had a Blu-Ray player hooked up to it in the store (SpiderMan 3) and I was blown away.
The only thing I can possible say negative about this TV is that it only has 2 HDMI ports and no DVI port. I had to buy a DVI-HDMI conversion cable to hook up my computer to the TV (which also looks fantastic).
Bottom Line: Go buy this TV, you won't regret it!

I tried price matching at Future Shop (in Ontario) tonight on the TH42PZ77 I bought a couple weeks ago for $1580. They said that because the store is in Vancouver if they did price match they would have to take into account the cost of next day delivery, which would make the price matching more or less pointless.

I just came across Panasonic website where the TH-42PZ77 is shown with a MSP of $1,199.98
http://www.panasonic.ca/english/audiovideo/plasma/th42_50pz77.asp That's the full 1080p model.
This is 3 days after I bought a 720p TH-42px75U at Walmart for a clearance price of $1099.99 and 1 day after I saw the same tv (PX75U) at Costco for $1079.00.
I thought I was getting a deal at Wally! Good thing I have kept the box for moving the tv.
