And I know, not everyone has a Costco membership, but for the price difference and the other offer of a $25 gift card, you may as well get one.

This is very cold for a 500GB external HD ...

1. It's regular price at BB
2. Most other brands are often below $130
3. 1 year warranty only
4. Let's break it down ... $100 can get you a WD 500 with 3-year warranty. That means you are paying $60 for an USB 2.0 enclosure. For this price, you should be able to get a very nice USB 2.0 + 1394 or eSATA enclosure.
5. Maxtor .... ewwww

It's so cold, I don't even bother to post the pic ...

As mentioned above - cold.

Costco has the 500GB MyBook drive for < $130 which is a good 15% less... and as also mentioned, even homebrew external drive/case solutions are possible for less.

picked up the maxtor one touch 4 for 123 tax in 500gb external and rated the fastest 500 from reviews I have seen comparing it to the WD mybook 500 as well. usb 2.0 only no firewire or esata but a great deal at 123 tax in. i just gotta open box still lol

Saw the WB 500 gb at Costco NE Calgary for $135. Waiting to see what kind of "Dell Days of Deals" has to offer first.
