Hey, I just wanna gauge some interest. Wanna start rfd community based racing league in GTR2. Would ppl be interesting in joining in? Doesn't matter if you're pro or noob, just have some races now and then to have some fun. Possibly like 2 times a month or something.

Game can be bought from amazon.ca for 20$ (in case you're playing the "trial" version), so racing sim fans and g25 ballers, let's do it up.

Also would be willing to do Race 07, if ppl can point me to where I can buy the game.

I like a proper racing sim, i.e wheels with H shifter, no aids (well, some is permissible), etc. Race07 is good from what the demo has to show but it's being distributed through Steam. I tried getting it to work and it's such a headache with my other games. GTR2 is a little harder than rFactor but if anyone wants to get together a league then I'm in. Most people here are console racers though.

Gonna give a little more details and explanation since nobody seems down for the idea.

I'm just kinda tired of playing online with having these quick races and ppl that just come in and crash into each other. Playing the game online felt kinda pointless.

So the plan is (if there's enough interest) to rent a server (i'll be paying for it) and start a league. Just wanna have a spot where ppl that actually wanna race can chill and have fun. The server will be public and of course shutdown for league events. The main reason for the server would be to host the league's season (first season would be 5 races as a test run). I was thinking a minimum of 1 event a month, the races would be full blown races (qualifying blah blah, 2-3 hour races for season events), from time to time have endurance races 5+hours, time trials etc... Just wanna make the races have some meaning to them and friendly competition.

There'd be an individual championship, as well as a team championship (2 players per team, to make things more competitive for us that aren't pro)

Would like ppl to be committed too, not saying you have to be practicing daily or whatever and become pro, but if u join, stay 'til the end. Don't join if after 2-3 races, you not doing well and you'll just bail. It just kills the point of having the league. Missing some races is okay though as sometimes rl schedules conflict with race dates. Planning, date setting and things of that nature would be determined later depending on everybody's schedule.

16 ppl would be the magic number as that would be the capacity of the server, so if u interested in something like that, let me know.

That's pretty hardcore. Not many here have a dedicated race wheel let alone get into all those hardcore sim titles. I applaud your efforts but I think trying to sell it here is a lost cause. Apart from possibly jollyeskimo and najibs, there won't be many who would go full hilt with all the qualifying, endurance race, etc.

Mind you, I usually end up driving like Yuji Ide after a few laps. I just can't maintain that level of concentration lap after lap so I'm probably out.

I'm interested in this for both GTR2 and Race07. I have a buddy that would probably be in too. Both of us have G25 setups.

I have gtr2 and legends. I'm busy with work so my Logitech momo is packed away but I am definitely interested.

I'm still here, and still willing to do it. As of right now though, there's only like 4-5 ppl down to do it. While at first I wanted 16 ppl to join before renting a server, I think a somewhat more realistic number would probably be like 10 or so.

As well for some ppl still hesitant, gtr2 is also at ebgames, same price as amazon.ca and comes with gt legends.

On a side note, once gt5 prologue comes out, I'll probably try to do a more casual friendly race league, still keeping the championship format, but would be less time consuming. Depending on how the multiplayer is since I never played the game yet.

Do a mock race with existing titles. There are enough people here with arcade racers like Forza(2) and such. I just hate encountering idiots who run you off the track because that's their cup of tea.

Anyone want to prove their mettle in Forza 2 on the Nurburgring endurance race?

If so, tonight would be good. Say 10pm EST so the people on the West could do it as well.

The guys who arranged the NHL08 league are into their 2nd season already and this is still dragging on.

Let's just have some fun.

A question about the games, GTr2 or rFactor; do they allow you to setup your settings so that if you have the G25 wheel, that when switching gears, it mimicks driving like a standard car? I.e., you have to step on the clutch to switch gears or else it won't register or you need to switch gears once it hits the correct rpms etc...I know on other racing games, you just switch the gears without needing to step on the clutch.

You can switch gears without the clutch in real cars too. In first gear if you don't engage the clutch, in GTR2, it will stall.

Why do we need to rent a server? Why not just start a game at the planned time or get on an empty server?

If it's just casual meet-ups then hopping on any server is fine. With having a league, there'd be a need to be able to control the content of the server (which circuit, settings, laps, doing practice and/or qualifying, and just things of that nature).

On the subject of the server, gonna be ending the offer on Wednesday the 16th, this thing has dragged on a bit long. Response was just a little low, but I still have some hope left though.
