I drive long distances regular and my dealer coverage just expired on my car. I would like the comfort of having an auto club just in case the ditch on the 401 has my name on it in the future. Any ideas?

So far, I have considered CAA (too expensive for eastern Ontario), and the former Canadian Tire auto club and lastly, getting the add on auto club service on my CIBC aero classic visa.

Any tips? Much appreciated.

Also you get free auto club from TD Gold Elite VISA
I just used it for the first time on Monday, I like it, especially when I don't pay for Gold Elite annual fee (waived for Select Service accounts, which requires $5K minimum)

Thanks for the idea...challenge for me is...I use my Amex as my primary card so I get the other rewards....but sadly no auto club. I use the CIBC as a close secondary....I am kinda trying to stay in the membership rewards/aeroplan world.

I am just wondering if anyone has any tips on which of these has better service.

If you have a lot of banked Petro-Points, their Auto Club membership is 50,000 pts. Good points-to-dollar ratio.

Amex aero gold is also my primary card. I have the TD elite visa just for the auto club and as a second card, lots of places do not accept amex. The good thing about the TD card is that the auto coverage is for the entire family. Not a bad deal for $99 if you are married with kids, usually the 1% rebate would cover the annual fee.

I do
#1 AMEX 2% card where accepted
#2 CIBC Aerogold where #1 not accepted
#3 TD Gold Elite 1%, auto club only, or when #2 is near limit
#4 TD Gold Travel, will get the new Infinite when it comes out
#5 Citi Enrich 1%, where only MC are accepted

note: I get #3/#4 annual fee waived from Select Service anyway, so no harm in having both. Next task is to get Aerogold fee waived
