EB was selling uses xboxes with controller for $40. Grab a copy of Mech Assault and softmod it yourself. $100 is a bit expensive. I have several xboxes softmodded and have 500GB in them to load video/music etc. Read about it at xbox-scene.com

There is no Evo Chip. He is probably refering to Evolution, which is the dash board.
Verify that the XBOX is chipped. Turn it upside down and if you see the seals broken where the screws are, it is a good indication that the unit was opened and modded.
Otherwise it is just softmodded.
Soft mods work fine, but I personally prefer a chipped XBOX.
I am going to check out EB Games. If they still have XBOX units for $40, I will probably pick up a few and mod them. I still have a few chips kicking around.

I wouldn't say $100 for a modded xbox is unreasonable but you'd have to know what it came with. Doing this is a lot cheaper but if you've never done it you probably won't want to start now! Here's what the local mod guy on my Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org) says for $100
Modded xbox, 2 controllers, 18 games
-also has the HI-DEF kit so it can use component cables for enhanced graphic experience.
-plays burned games
-plays burned dvds
-really good mod with fully customizable menus
-works perfectly
I'd ask for a SNES Rom disc with whatever all 4000 games or something and tell em to put some games on it that you actually want.
