Im building a new house and I am looking into getting some idea's on what I can pre-wire in the house or should conisder before having it framed. Any thoughts on smarthome idea's? So far I am looking to put in a home IR repeater so I can have all my electronics in one area, I have also considered pre-wiring for in-wall speakers...any suggestions on what else I should look at doing?

Samrthome?
That's not too smart.
You could control your window blinds to open/close throughout the day. Lights can be set to turn on when you enter/leave rooms. You could put touch-screens in the walls to control your home theatre so that you can get sound to come from various speakers from anywhere in your house. I think you can even setup up some smarthome systems to work via websites, so while you're at work you can change your heat if you want. Maybe activate underground sprinkler systems... They can pretty much do whatever you want if you're willing to pay for it.

There are others out there... and maybe better ones. I like the motion sensor lights ( when someone is in the room lights turn on but you don't want this during the day)

There is an infinite amount of possibilities. It really depends on what you want to do.
Whole-home audio is a very popular option which allows multi-room zones for playing music throughout the house.
Lighting control is becoming more prevalent too which will allow you to control many different lights from one switch or have them act upon input from other devices.
Environmental automation can also be done by way of controlling your furnace/AC, fireplace, blinds, water fountain, hot tub, pool, and more.
Is this a custom home? Then you will have all these options available.
If this is a production home, your options will me limited based on what the builder offers you.
If you need assistance with these sorts of things, please ask. I'm doing more and more of these things all the time.
