Hey guys,
Just want your opinions on this tv. So I was told it was a new model and it's sold at futureshop for around $2000. I'm sure there is some wiggle room on this. Is this a good price? Anything I should be aware of?

not sure how hot of a deal this is, but a rep in futureshop said that he'll throw in a samsung home theather system if I buy the tv. So all in all $2k for the tv + home theather system. Does this sound like a good deal?

I'm not sure if its a new model or not, it may be for the price. Get him to give you a good discount on the FutureShop PSP & buy it. But it does look to be like a good tv.
Here it is again,

Well being a new model you never know what problems it May have, probably wont really have any issues but you never know. Also on such a big investment it might be a good idea just in case.
But it is up to you.

The Samsung 550 series came out in March. They also have 450, 650, and 750 series available.
If you like LCD's, then you'll like that one. Check out the AVS forums, there's a 550 series owner's thread that's loaded with info for you.

I bought the 46" 550 two weeks ago. FS price was $2100 and I got it for $1900. I wasn't looking for a HTIB etc so I was happy with the price. This is my first HDTV and I'm no great expert but I really like it so far.

i just noticed that the sharp d64u series is also in this price range. Are these two models comparable?
Also, is there a big difference between the sony w series and v series?
Out of the tv models I mentioned, how would you rank them?
Thanks. I will buy before the end of this week.

a550 > d64u
As for the new Sony's, they'll rank in this order (aside from XBR's)
z4100
w4100
v4100

My dad is also considering that model for our next TV, but for only couple hundred dollars more, you can get the 52" version. I would strongly recommend that you take a look at that.

Was just looking at this exact set at FS, and the sales rep offered it to me for $1675.00 (from $2099.00) without any negotiations. There's definitely some wiggle room.

that's a really good price since it's a new model right? Are you still debating or are you gonna buy?
Btw, what other models have you looked at that are comparable to this one, and which one did you prefer?
Thanks

I didn't buy, as I'm still debating whether on not to step up to a 6 or 7 series Sammy.
Also noticed the new panels have a more reflective coating, which some people have reported as problematic in terms of glare, especially if you put your tv anywhere near a window.
But if that's not the case for you, I've also read that these panels have the best PQ for the buck right now.
If I do buy, I'll definitely try to squeeze a few more bucks off that quoted price ;)
