There is a guy on my street selling his Fully loaded Charger and I am able to get it for $10,000 with only 18kms.

Can anyone give me their thoughts on the SRT-8? I know it's a gas eater but I may be willing to let that slide..

$10,000 sounds way too cheap for that car. Buy it! The money you're saving will be more than enough to cover the extra gas usage.

ya that is waaaay too good of a deal. Run checks on it to see if it's been stolen, if it's been in an accident, etc. No way can that be the actual price he wants

Why not?

American cars depreciate fast just like waterfall. Though it is abnormal for a 45000~50000 dollars car depreciate to 1/4 or 1/5 of its price within two years, but, on the other hand, it's understandable nowadays as the gas price is boosting skyhigh; and therefore, not many people want to buy it. The dealer rather want to get rid of it than keeping it in the storage and let it rot.

Chrysler stuff are always stylish, muscular, attractive, fun to drive in the beginning and have no long term reliability...

By the way, op better double check the car's record just to get your ass covered.:cheesygri Overally speaking, if the car is clean you got an awesome deal, which made me jealous.:D

you're an idiot. the srt-8 goes for anywhere from 30-45k on autotrader

so OP, either this is a family favour, or the car is stolen and he is looking for quick cash, either way its a fast car, i drove a modded srt-8 cherokee and it spun tires in awd, ridiculously fast, the gas mileage calculator on the truck measured 19.8L/100kms however.

423hp / 420lb.ft at $10 grand for 18,000km's????

Holy **** I'd take it. Besides the guy lives on your street. If he puts up a for sale sign on his lawn as soon as he sells the car to you then you'll know it could be a problem :)

But honestly, the bay looks really well kept and seems to be a good deal. Still check everything you can when getting a used car.

Either the guy is incredibly desperate or something is fishy... my gut is something is fishy.

He could probably take it to a dealer and get far more than $10K on the spot, so something isn't right.

You should be careful here...10K for an SRT8 is too cheap...I think there might be something he isn't fully disclosing.

I don't think that was actually a picture of the car in question since it was not posted by the OP.

Doesn't sound right, even for an accident rebuilt car.

If it was legit, I would have already bought it without even posting here.

Sounds too good... $10k for a Hemi-engine ... Run a car fax, get maintenance record, get a mechanic to check it. If all turns up good, then buy it! (well if u don't mind the gas mileage).

If you don't jump on it I know about 10 guys that would probably go pick it up tonight.

Assuming of course it's legit.

Thats what I said when he told me he will sell it to me for $10,000. I honestly though he was pulling my chain. This car is fully loaded too which of course made it sound like a joke. He said it wasent a joke. He said he has had the car since new.

I agree with you guys something must be wrong with it. I doubt its stolen as iv seen him driving it for over a year. How would I go abouts on doing a check on the car to make sure its not stolen or damaged in the past?

But again $10,000 for the car..I. could turn around and sell it for nearly double if I wanted..

You could easily sell it for triple or quadruple considering the mileage.

But with a Charger under my belt It will be hard to sell it. Know what I mean.

But then I can buy my Mazda 3.

Does he still drive it or have you started it up and drove it?

At this point, I can see two scenarios:
1) This guy shredded the transmission/diff/seized the engine. Thing is, any one of those still wouldn't justify the price so low - plus, it's probably still under warranty so he could just fix it free.

2) He filled up the gastank recently and realised just how much it's going to cost him to keep driving. Since he knows you, he's cutting you a GREAT deal on a car he was probably already going to sell below market value just to get rid of it quicktime.

I saw him driving it just about an hour ago As I was coming back from the Pizza store and saw him pulling out and gunning it down the road.

who knows?...it might be legit, and you might miss on a great deal.

Walk over to the car when it is parked and write down the VIN number in the window. Run a carfax or carproof and if it checks out run back with a bag of cash. I would not worry about anything mechanical as it probably still has warrenty.

$10k is insanely cheap for this car. There has to be a lien on it or something, no?

I agree, run a carfax report, ask for a used vehicle package (it'll tell you if it's been wrecked/liens etc) and buy it if it checks out. Then put it up on autotrader the following day for 25k (well under current going rate). It'll sell within a few days.

You've just made 15k in the space of a week.

Try and get the dealer info of where the car was serviced last (you can ask them for a report/verbal confirmation also).

About the VIN, there are a few locations on the car where the VIN is located. You should check all these locations to confirm that they all are the same. All the doors should have a VIN plate, as with the dashboard (viewable from outside the car at the bottom of the windshield), and on the engine.

The engine and trans should have a EIN and TIN, respectively. However EIN/TINs, IIRC, do not match the VIN of the vehicle. They are separate and different serial numbers. However with these numbers you can contact the manufacturer who should be able to tell you if those were the engine and trans the car was assembled with.
